To sharpen up my routines and to advertise for magic club, some other members and I have started doing tricks in the dining halls and Caféteria. My question would be how do you know what table to go to?

You don't. So just go over and talk to them and find out if they want to watch you practice your little magic tricks.

I used to do this in truckstops. Sit at a table and do a ton of shuffles, one handed cuts, springs... Someone will eventually come to you and ask if you are a card shark or something. Tell them you are actually a magician and this is just how you break in a new deck. " want to see a couple tricks?" And BOOM, next thing you know, you will be surrounded (and probably never sit alone again) Have fun with it, I always did ( and got a lot of free meals to boot)

One of my favourite bits is just to sit there with a couple of D lites on and use them without saying anything, believe me you will soon have people coming to you saying what was that, and youre away !
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

So from what I'm hearing is the best way is to sit alone and do something flashy until someone comes to you rather then branching out and being aggressive about showing people tricks. The only concern I have with this is I will be doing it with a couple of people and am worried that if someone sees a group all playing with cards they will assume that were simply friends and not want to intrude a private gathering.

So have just one in your group perform and the others act as spectators. After a couple of "oohs and aahs" from your cohorts, I beet you start getting curious people showing up.
