LINK: http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/paul-harri......921.html As Joshua Jay says on the DVD, "a thumbtip is a SECRET POCKET that's in plain site, and yet is invisible." What a great description of this universal gimmick that everyone should own! And yet, many who own one don't understand all the possibilities that you can use it for! Here's what I liked about the DVD Download (which I watched start-to-finish and never got bored): If you are new to thumb tips, or if you don't currently use one because you think it's limited in what you can do with it, then this really offers some great routines that you can do. I remember the first trick I ever saw a magician do with a thumbtip: he made a silk disappear. I thought this was all you could do with a thumbtip for a long time (before getting involved with magic, of course)! On this DVD, Joshua Jay (who is an outstanding teacher and presenter) shows how thumbtips are used to make items switch, appear, disappear, and transpose....all with this simple little gimmick that you can pick up for under a buck! The routines on this DVD are easy for a beginner, but pack serious power for the professional. Did you ever think to do a METAL BENDING routine using a thumbtip? That's covered on here, along with many other routines. Not to mention, Joshua covers a technique on here (during the teaching of Salt and Pepper) which I never even thought to use before (but can't mention or else I'd give it away)! All I got to say is, "Joshua, way to think outside the box, brother!" In addition to routines, Joshua goes in depth about the different kinds of thumbtips, and how it really doesn't matter what skin color you are, or what type of thumbtip you use......he teaches you how to make it virtually indetectable so you don't feel like someone is going to notice it. He covers thumbtip CARE, and how to make them fit a certain way! He covers MANAGEMENT, ANGLES, and how to keep it on without it being noticed. He doesn't just say, "Here's an effect, let me teach it to you." He covers PRINCIPLES first, devoting an entire sections to STEALS and LOADS, so that you feel comfortable doing the "moves" before ever getting into the routines. To sum it up, this isn't just a DVD on some tricks you can do with thumbtips. In fact, I found a lot of GREAT VALUE in the first half of the DVD, where Joshua is just TALKING about the management and angles.....how to carry yourself......how to be relaxed while using them. After watching this DVD, you're going to want to bust out your Thumbtip and begin using it all the time! I literally have NOTHING NEGATIVE to say about this item. It's currently available as a DOWNLOAD, so you can literally begin to watch it TODAY as soon as your order is processed: http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/paul-harri......921.html COST: $19.95 (+2 Reward Points Earned)

Why do you call this a DVD if it's a download?

The content is exactly the same, except there is no physical DVD to ship out. It's something that Paul Harris is doing right now for the initial launch. I am not sure of the exact release date of the DVD disk, so in the meantime, people who want this can simply purchase the DVD Download from MJM Magic, and you will get access to it once your order is processed. Again, it IS a DVD but it's only available as a digital download right now. That's why I refer to it as being both a DVD and a download. I hope that clears up your question.

Jeff_Mash, thanks for the review. It sounds like I can learn some things about TT's that I didn't know!
I like the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgPWPRDYuhs |

I've been using TTs for many years. I have seen work by Pat Page and have been shown finesse and touches by Paul Daniels (so while not an expert, definitely not a beginner)... But I still think this is a great download.
I have been looking to increase what I do with this gimmick and picked up the Worlds Greatest Magic TT download. This was interesting and the work by DeCova was worth the cost. I then picked up this and agree with Jeff's review. Allthough not a long D/L, the teaching is excellent, there are many tips that are worth studying and the routines are varied, achievable and with the right presentation, very powerful. I could offer the critique that there could have been more routines, but that would be nit-picking as there are no 'filler' or dud routines. Do not overlook this if you are experienced, it is not just for beginners (although excellent for those new to the TT). Highly recommended Charlie |

If you had to recommend one over the other, would it be the World's Greatest or this?

Hmm..That's tricky. Richard Osterlind's T&E (signed) Sweet & Low on the WGM is a super strong piece of magic which I have done may times. DeCova's touches on a vanish are excellent.
There are more effects on the WGM, but there are generally stronger effects on the Hand Picked Astonishments, plus a more cohesive look at using the prop and finesse... I find it hard not to recommend both, but at a push, I would suggest that the Hand Picked Astonishment is a better, all round offering. Charlie |

I think this download/DVD is a great buy. Primarily for three reasons: the teaching is very well done, the effects have a strong impact on spectators, and finally, the variety of effects taught (ranging from coin bending to a transposition). These are real workers; effects that are easy on pocket management and practical to perform. I was very surprised ... this is a great download/DVD.

I had my doubts about this dvd...come on it's about thumb tips. Wow! Was I ever surprised, so much good info and a few really good routines. I wish they had included a few more routines but that's just me. Totally worth the money.

I tacked this DVD onto a recent order and was presently surprised. Excellent teachings and strong routines. I use my TT for many stage routines but I think I'm going to start carrying one in my pocket again.

I have Darwin's TT encyclopedia. Is this DVD still worth purchasing if I already have that?

I am pretty much still a beginner. I got a lot more confidence with the TT after watching Josh Jay explain how to be confident with it. I was shying away from the TT because I did a silk vanish to a co-worker, and he said "you had something on your thumb" I said why do you say that. He said because your thumb looked blue. Apparently the multi colered silk steamier was showing through the TT. Some one here in the forum suggested I paint the inside of the TT white. I did, and that solved the problem. However Josh Jays tips gave me a ton of confidence. I did some vanishes/reappearences at a Super Bowl party, and people where amazed. I just felt a little insecure while watching Josh, that the spectators were right on top of him. I was feeling Wow, I would be a little insecure if the spectators were standing in my hip pocket like those two girls in the video. I know they were his assistants, but I'm sure that's how he perforns the tricks, with people standing right on top of him, but he's Joshua Jay Anyway, I think the DVD is great and I highly recomend it
