I know this to be true because I have heard more than one magician say during a performance: "I have suffered for my art. Now it's your turn!"

I have schoolcraft , keuppers , lassen coins now and in the past. They all stand behind their coins if you have a problem with them. Johnson does too- I'm told they have a lifetime guarantee. I've called schoolcraft when I thought I damaged my coin (I didn't ) he said send it in andhell fix it. He diagnosed the prob in the phone. Same thing with Roy kueppers.

Never Say Never...
I used to feel the same way. That is until I got to handle these quality works of art and see what a pure pleasure to perform with them they are. Just like any job, if a tool makes it easier to do, then why not invest? And invest I did! Luckily, mostly when silver was half today's prices. Lest we not forget, these coins won't be around forever, and neither will these fine craftsman. Expounding on what Chessmann says, when you have people inches away, and your gaffs are not fooling you, they might not be fooling them. Sure, a good Johnson shell perhaps...but then things change as you want to incorporate other gaffs. And then... try on for size an un-expanded shell and reduced remilled coins...ohhhh yeah! As for Silver vs. Clad, well it is just much more beautiful. As mentioned, it stands out... and people are very intrigued with old silver coins. I love to start out non gaffed and almost invariably hand out my silver coins and ask them to look at them just to see the looks on their faces. People love precious metal, old items with a story, and people love money... Triple whammy! Finally I leave you with my favorite David Roth quote; " You hear that???... Nothing sounds like Silver... except for Silver!" Cheers! |
