Brill!
My first thought was .... Why does he keep adjusting his mic in his mic holder...... You know like we sometimes use on stage. It took me a short time to click that he wasn't using one and it was just floating (I forgot for a short time he is in 0G). So when he moved away and the mic stayed I was really impressed at his floating mic trick for a very short time. Hey it is early on Sunday morning! But great Video thanks for posting! I'm off to look for other video clips from space..... |

Wow! That was fun! Very cool, indeed!
Yeah, I also got a charge out of the floating mike! Man, no i.t., and it just floated magically! Looks amazing! Also, I'm very curious how the guy is able to stay alive in zero gravity. What I mean is, how does his blood (liquid) keep flowing normally and feed his brain so he doesn't black out or expire?

Doug-
The pumping of the heart, not gravity, causes the blood to circulate. I'm sure you've seen astronauts in zero gravity floating around the cabin of a spacecraft or on the space station. As long as the cabin is pressurized, they are fine. |

Yes and when thenew guy in mission control finishes a request with "no pressure" they all scrabble to get in their space suits.
I (with my old old old vague biological background - microbiology ..... Not human anatomy which I dropped ASAP) would imagine that their lymph system gets more of a distributed go at recovery of seepage. I think the lymph nodes at the lower end (feet unless you walk round on your hands) get more work to do due to gravity when on the earth. So maybe the 0G means that thoes lymphatic parts may have less to do whilst in space. |

I don't mean to ask questions that sound dumb, but my mind is naturally curious about these things.
The guy in the video was stable while everything else was free to float. How do they accomplish that? Are his boots anchored to the floor? That's the only thing I can figure. And was he actually in space, or can they artificially create zero gravity on earth? If so, HOW do they do it?

Dunno about the floor; I suspect that he has footholds of some kind. TO answer your second question Chris Hadfield is the current commander of the International Space Station, so, yes, that really is from space.

Can't create 0G in earth. The impression of weightless ness can be created by falling at the same speed as a 'sealed environment". It's allied the vomit commit. A jumbo jet padded inside. Climbs really high. Then pretty much dives straight down . The people inside become "weightless" for the duration of the dive. But it doesn't last long.
The reason the other things float away and seem to move is just that any slight force in ANY direction will cause something to keep going in that direction. No gravity to pull it towards the earth so it can keep going in any direction. Until another force stops it or changes its direction. |
