O.K. this is a little bit of a no no, and definatley not my normal practice and procedure but I have a show coming up in less than a week and I've been looking into a new opening act. I have an introduction with computer genertated announcer. After the announcement I walk on stage I wave walk toward my assistant, take flash paper and lighter from my assistant ingnite and reveal back palmed cards I then walk to a phoenix fire bird cage that I lite, twirl and reveal dove from. I have background music also during this opening performance. I have been preparing this for a few weeks but I normally don't walk on stage with something I have not practiced less than 100 times but they are both pretty self working and I have been back palming cards a long time. The question is the whole thing lasts 60sec. maybe. It also lacks in my opinion rhythm and reason any theory or ideas on this problem.

Check out the manipulation routine by Lance Burton, it seems you are going down that track.
Definitely make sure you are well rehearsed before performing.

My quick idea would be study the first sentence you wrote and see if you can spot the problem.

Silvercup hit it on the head. Do what you know and next event you do if you want to change then change it.

Have you been using fire with card routines. Do you carry insurance. Besides that, in my experience, I have had great results in putting in new bits in my show. In other experience, I find putting in new bits works better for me when I don't use them to open. Harris

Thanks guys for the input, I really appreciate the comments and concerns to watch out for. Though I was hoping for more insight like scottds80 referred to. I also appreciated everyone who took the time to chime in. I had not thought a lot about liability ins. thought I do carry a million in coverage on my primary company. I would also like to mention I would never use a routine that did not come together just so I could use a new trick. Magic I fill has to have well excecution of the trick but also have rhythm and meaning. This new opening act as I said was new but I failed to mention the new was the way of putting them together. These were all old practiced items except the fire cage which is almost like dove from balloon which I've been using for a couple years now. I did however come up with a way to put it all together for an opening and I thought it went over very well. Your thoughts and comments are all very much appreciated and Harris I will definitely make sure my policy covers me playing with fire LOL. Have a magical day TJs Magic.
