I stumbled across this amazing video showing photoshop addition of lifelike features on the only authenticated bust of Julius Caesar from his lifetime. The artist is combining a known image with contemporary descriptions and the result is absolutely stunning.
The same person (or group?) has a series of amazing reconstructions; sometimes done twice based on further information/corrections they have been given. Here are a couple of my favourites. Lucrezia Borgia Tollund Man Cleopatra These are strangely beautiful and moving. And I've viewed less than half of them so far. John

Interesting. I wonder why they didn't go further with three dimensional interpretation? With all the computer graphic techniques out there today, I thought that's where it was going. Still, interesting images.
