Hello peeps,
Mr. Bob Burns has released a DVD called "The Swan". I believe he is aiming it mostly at therapists as he sells it on his hypnotherapy website (http://lifelinehypnotherapy.com/The-Swan(2875521).htm) but it definitely has a place for me in entertainment hypnosis - on more than one occasion I have incorporated this into a stage show. I use it to give me the heads up on who my best subjects are likely to be, and it gives the audience (big or small) something that everyone can try out. I had never seen it anywhere else before, so at least for the moment, if you get this then you will have something "new" in your hypno-bag o´ tricks

Owen can you elaborate more about what it is and how you use it in a show?

I will attempt not to give it away - part of the beauty of the thing is the simplicity of it, so forgive me for not going into great detail. There is no fancy technique to master, no linguistic manipulation of the subject, no trickery, it is a very simple concept.
The "swan" is a type of direct communication with the subconscious. I have seen the same principle that Bob uses in the video be brushed off by subjects, but he has discovered a way to use the principle in a very effective manner. Bob explains in the video how to use the swan as a "convincer". It can be used as a qualifier and is a hell of a lot faster than your average hand stick with an audience. Only a little imagination is required to adapt it from a therapy setting for stage use and can be used on any size of audience. It is something fresh that I had never seen before. I have used it with people who did not want to be hypnotized, and it got them curious and they ended up being great hypnotees! In a show it could serve as a pre-test for selecting your subjects, or as a deepener. It impresses both the subjects and the audience. I hope this is enough info for you!

I have been lucky enough to see this and it is well worth a look. It is a nifty way of communicating with the subconscious, in a fun and visual way. I can see this being great for therapists, but I could also see it being used one on one in an entertainment setting. It is a good tool to have in our arsenal.
On top of that it is a very slick and professionally produced video, with great and thorough explanations from Bob. I have been tied up on a writing project which ends next week, at which point I will rewatch it and do a proper review. But I can recommend it highly; fun, useful and well explained.

Thankyou Owen & Tony.
It's quite funny in that 89% of the purchases (not released until 27th May) have come from America. I'm not really sure what this means? But it's very nice and I'm very grateful to all.
Bob Burns is the creator of The Swan.

I experienced it myself this weekend when Bob Swanned me. It is amazing... I'm not the best subject in the world and still a great effect... Gonna use it in therapy room as well as on stage or in streethypnosis...
