It looks pretty good. Have you ever dealt with this company? How's their service?

It seems like a good deal. They nail you for shipping costs though .
I too would love to hear any feedback about the company. |

Hello boltt223,
No, I haven't as yet, but intend to. I think the discount prices are great! Cheers, Gerry Thoughts Have Wings Hi Evan, I do agree with you that the shipping is slightly high. Since he's a new dealer, if he see's this post, he might readjust his shipping prices. All in all, you must agree, that you save quite a bundle, even with the shipping costs. I agree that it ends up being a pretty good deal. The only other thing I have found about the site is that the "retail prices" he lists are much above the actual retail prices. Here is an example:
He says this mirror box retails at $50.00, but sells it for $18.00 Here Hank Lee has the exact same box for $20.00 Here I guess my point is that, yes it is a good deal, but the prices are almost a little misleading with a listed retail price that is not true. Other than that I think it looks like a good shop to me! Evan |

Evan,
Curious about the quality and how big is the load chamber. Regards, Wayne UPDATE: April 1, 2004 Also the price is now at $74....read somewheres the load chamber is half the size of the box...ie; load = 10 in by 5.5 by 5.5 inches...still a good size especially the width....

This box is similar to this one at Elmwood Magic, but the one at Elmwood is bigger (14" x 9" x 9") and pricier too ($145):
http://www.elmwoodmagic.com/?nd=full&key=754 And keep in mind, $75 is the price for the mirror box, but the shipping and handling is an additional $13! Of course that's still less expensive than Elmwood's. You can also catch a video demo of this at THETRICKERY.com Search for Mirror Box. They sell theirs for $135. |

A tricky part of buying such a box is this: "is it the right size for my rabbit." some rabbits are as big as a small dog, others are not much bigger than a rat. Those small ones obviously fit in anything, but it the box is really big, the load small, it is not that thrilling. I have had rabbits of various sizes and have built a number of boxes. I do have a tip for anyone thinking about this, or buying, building one.
Get a box that you know is bigger than your animal. Get a few strips of cardboard and duct tape. Put the animal into the box. Then put the cardboard strips in in such a way to be a snug, but humane, fit. In other words, push to bunny to one end, then put a stripe behind him. Put another to the side. Then mark how high he is with a felt pen. Then put the rabbit, duck, away. Get a tape and measure the space. Then you know exactly what size load chamber you need for your rabbit. With that in mind, call a dealer and find out the size of his load chamber, or tell a builder what you need. Then, over the years, as you replace bunnies, you can stick to a similar size. quack |

Magick Duck,
That is an excellent idea....I was measuring the cardboard boxes first then placing bunny in it. Not a true measurement no doubt... My dwarf is bigger than most dwarfs and will be 6 months next month. Afraid he will grow bigger although he weighs under 2.5 lbs presently. He looks bigger than that though. Presently Im using a bunny box and have tried him in an Abbott but unsuccessful so far...... Itsmagic...I will check out the link demo, thanks... WC

Glad it heped. I did this when I was making a load chamber for my Samoyed years back. The duct tape I mentioned above, which you probably figured out, is just to hold the partitions in place. I also found that, to some degree, once I got the area of the box, I could play a bit with the width and length and the animal would fit okay. Start playing with the height and it becomes more of an issue. Be sure, no matter what you do, to get plenty of air holes in anything you build. There are ways to hide those, back under the edge of a lid for example, so nobody will ever see them.
