I just met a Florida magician who claims to OWN Houdini's mailbag used by the great Harry Houdini. He supposedly got it from a friend who bought it from Hardeen. Can this be legit? Does anyone know what happened to the mailbag Houdini used in his act? gary.corsair@thevillagesmedia.com

There's so much of this stuff floating around here these days that you really have to wonder if 90% of this stuff is legit.
As you might know, even Hardeen peddled a lot of fake Houdini stuff. Gerry |

There are some Houdini collectors around, a couple on the Genii Forum, they might know.

Like straitjackets, I think Houdini might have had several different mailbags. There are at least two we know about. One has stripes, one is plain. Sid Radner had the plain one, also acquired from Hardeen.
You can see a photo of HH and the stripped bag on the cover of a booklet all about Houdini's mailbags called, yes, Houdini's Mailbags. http://www.wildabouthoudini.com/2013/01/......dle.html Be great to see of photo of the bag owned by this Florida magician. Is it the one from the photo? That would be awesome. |
