Greetings!
Im sure this has been covered here before but I cant find it - sorry in advance I need to switch out my band and the smaller piece is wickedly glued in. I'm trying slip razors underneath but it wont budge. What can I do to get this piece to pop out so I can repair it? Other than that it seems to be of good quality but I am not sure of the manufacturer at this point |

I think that you need to boil it in hot water for some time. The glue will then dissolve in water. But please be careful as the coin will be really hot afterwards.

Careful though! Don't pry too hard or you will put a small bend in the shell and ruin it, as I once did. If the insert provides much resistance, repeat the acetone treatment (don't pry harder )

I reppaired my kennedy clad flipper aplying heat with a lighter. Remove the little part and clean the glue with acetone.

I don't know what kind of flipper you have, but any flipper better than a Sasco... should be treated with care. You also may melt any rubber band that is in the channel and that will be a pain in the backside to remove. And I repeat... don't glue it back... I use 3M double-sided scrapbooking tape... and there are many other very thin double-sided tapes that will hold any flipper in place firmly. |

Thanks for all the advice! I will definitely be taping it back into place. Kueppers gave a nice lesson on these repairs in a Reel Magic episode, he just didn't mention how to get one loose that was really stuck with glue.

Some magicians say double stick tape doesn't hold and they continue to use glue. I never had any issues using double stick tape. Although I was told acetone doesn't hurt the coin in any way, I don't want to have to go through the process of always soaking it for hours just to get the one part off. When it's time to re-band, I want to be able to do it right away.

All that's needed is a few drops of acetone to remove the super glue, and it takes only 5 mins to loosen up the glue.
I work with super glue and metals every day in my line of work. It has never taken hours to soak. You can buy super glue remover (acetone) in small spray bottles or you can buy a quart at your local hardware store. |

I tried double sided tape a few times with no luck. Now the rubber cement worked great and outlasted the band. Just apply to both sides and let dry before placing together. After just use a toothpick and clean all the remaining glue out so the flipper works as its should with no sticking.
