I saw a demo of this at hocus-pocus.com
It's Jaywalk by Gordon Beam. It looks pretty cool. Does anyone have it or have an opinion on it.
Check out my Main Event project (DVD or Download).

I bought Jaywalk last week (actually Mexican Revolution, and the Jaywalk is a bonus effect of sorts. In playing around with both of them, I offer you the following thoughts.
Overall, the Mexican Revolution routine is pure eye candy. It is relatively easy to do, and has a large impact on your audience (Four jacks are shown, they turn face down one at a time - visibly, a la Guy Hollingworth - and then instantly turn face up again. Upon closer examination, all the cards backs have changed color) The Jaywalk effect is not as good-looking (in my opinion) but it allows you to end a lot cleaner than MR. (3 jokers and a jack are shown. Spec is told to find the jack. Cards are mixed. Magi makes it "easier for spec to find cards by turning the 3 jokers face up, one at a time, visibly. Then, they all turn face down again, and all cards are shown to be jacks, and you only have four cards) And of course, all fronts and backs are shown at all times. Overall, I feel as though I got my money's worth, and am quite satisfied with it. There are a LOT of worse things you could spend twenty bucks on, and you get two tricks for the price of one. (Although, I'd rather spend the extra 20 bucks and buy a copy of Guy Hollingworth's book for 40 - his ideas in that book are great) Hope this was of some help. Zach

Personally I thought that Jaywalk was better than Mexican Revolution. But both are worth the price.

I have had this for a little while now, and although I personally like Mexican Revolution better, my audiences seem to like Jaywalk more. I think that MR might have a little too much to it. I think MR is more visual, but Jaywalk does end cleaner. For such a low price, you can't go wrong with getting it. I highly recommend it.

Hi,
for the low price, you get 2 incredible tricks... I personally like jaywalk more... but MR is still very visual... both are very easy to perform... and both have brought good reacations from my audience... highly recommended... I have 2 other gordon bean's products... joker joker, temptation... I am not related to him or his company in any way, and I have to say I like both very much...especially joker joker... the instructions booklets that come with all his tricks are very well written and very generous with photo illustrations... very clear and eaasy to follow... that's another plus point... I have always been more than pleased with his products... get them... you will enjoy the reactions... eric

Hello:
This is a bit off topic, but... I noticed on Gordon Bean's site, he has a new handling for temptation - it's called T3. It is MUCH better than the handling in the instruction booklet - it is so much easier to follow! Ron |

I received MR/Jaywalk in the mail about 4 days ago. On Opening and reviewing the instructions I began. Little did I know that my Daughter (10yrs) was looking over at me right as the first joker turned (Jaywalk) ... she immediatley stopped and said "Dad, how did you do that??" "That was cool" LOL... That's when I know I have a winner. The wife was equally impressed (not an easy thing to do).
I found the instructions very well written, the photo's very helpful, and the overall excellent. This is a wonderful packet effect that goes over very well with specs adult to child. It's also fun to do. Oh, and I thought the price was right on. I encourage my fellow friends here to give it a try. I'm sure you will be happy with it. Cheers. |

Daffy Doug here. I also purchased these effects as a two in one package, and think they are both equally beautiful.. Gordon Bean is on a roll when it comes to putting out great products lately.
I'l comment in detail in a review that I will post.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

I echo CLose's sentiments that the presentation for Jaywalk just doesn't make sense. It needs to be reworked. However, I agree that the ending to that effect is so strong it almost makes up for it.
Personally I think the MR is a better trick and better looking in the middle section, but feel the red back ending is a bit more "intellectual". Jaywalk is more stunning. |

This is clever. The gaffs are beautiful-BUT-if you perform this often the cards will wear qucikly. You'll end up rebuying this and will soon stop doing it.

I liked this, however I also felt that the color changing ending wasn't as "stunning" as jaywalk and also that this mid part of jaywalk wasn't as good as Mexican revolution....
I changed it a bit to what I think is the best mix of the two. The problem is that either you have to split the card they provide or print your own... Basically, it is Mexican revolution handling, only using the jaywalk ending(jokers turning to jacks, or aces, or whatever). Briefly, 4 face down blue cards are shown(counted so you see the back of each one). Then one Joker turns face up(you see the whole face). Then you assemble the cards, wave your hand, the second joker turns face up. Using the first joker(you see the whole face) you wave over the cards so the second one turns down. You shake and all 4 are faceup. You then turn the top joker face down, square up and they are all face down, but now they are 4 jacks(or aces). Very similer to NFW but superior imho because of the method of them turning over, and the backfire(all faceup now face down). I feel that it improves the handling and effect of Jaywalk, letting you show the whole joker and also the front and back of each card at the end, while fixing the ending of Mexican revolution, because the change from red to blue didn't have the impact that it should have.(I don't think that backs changing color is as impacting to a spectator as a joker changing to a jack). While it should be easy to guess what you need to do to modify your existing gaffs, if you want to know specifics, PM me. I won't disclose the secret to the effet, but only what you need to do to modify your stuff. |
