I'm lazy. If stopping where I'm supposed to stop and looking all over the place (my Dad used to say you've got to have eyes in the back of your head) will save me the time and aggravation of dealing with some bozo who wasn't paying attention, then I'll stop. One thing I learned a long time ago was the fallacy of cutting off my nose to spite my face.

The first driving lesson my father ever taught me was to drive like everyone else on the road was a moron

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

They don't do that anymore - apparently the cameras soon pay for themselves though I've very rarely seen anyone go through a red light here. I don't think they are purely revenue raising. I know I think twice before speeding up for a yellow light now - which wasn't necessarily the case before there were cameras. We have a lot of cameras here - red light and speed. I've taken the GPS out of the car and just use the iphone - it became too annoying being constantly reminded of cameras ahead. |

Your gps alerts you to cameras? Interesting.
What you described as far as not speeding up for yellow lights is one side of the coin. The other is that many mode people end up slamming on their breaks when they should be going through (made worse by the shortening of yellow lights to create more tickets) which leads to more accidents.
