Some time ago I created an effect which is without a doubt the closest thing to real magic that I can do for people out of my personal close-up repertoire.
Essentially, a card is freely selected (and the spectator has the chance to change their mind if they'd like), seen ONLY by the spectator, then buried into the deck. THEY see the card, THEY mix the cards, and THEY are the last ones touching the deck. I tell them that once the deck touches their outstretched palm every card is attuned to their thoughts, and will be able to locate the selection. They "tell" the deck what color their card is, then what suit it is, and, finally, what the entire card is. The spectator now turns over the top card THEMSELVES with the magician nowhere near to reveal that the pure will of their thoughts has brought the card to the top. The method is simple, so I take the chance to focus on presentation; I've received wonderfully loud screams from this effect. What do you think? -Eric S. |

Eric, I wonder what you can do to prevent them from LYING to you? From what you've described, it looks like they could.

I've prevented that by having them show the card to everyone around if I feel that they might do something like that, but 99% of the time I'm comfortable with my spectator choice and I've NEVER had anybody lie to me.

Sound great ! Is it impromptu, any deck ?
A very well-known method can achieve the same effect, you only need to touch the deck once (but the spec forgot about that). Dani Daortiz has also a great similar self-working trick called Abracadabra, excellent effect !! Nicolas |

Yes; it's totally impromptu. Mine also relies on the spec forgetting I even touched the deck.

You have seen it Tom, haha. It was one of the two tricks I showed you my first night at the club. I'd be happy to show it to you again, however.
