I saw these at Barnes and Noble recently:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/home-gif......22645101 Basically it's just a chrome metal fortune cookie that snaps open and closed. There's a slot for loading any of the pre-printed fortunes that come with it, or you can insert one you write yourself on the blank slips that are supplied. It also comes with a little booklet with factoids about fortune cookies that may contain some fodder for patter if you decide to use this as a prop. $8.95 new at B&N, but there are links at the above web address for plenty of secondary sellers who are unloading them for $1.99 each.

Perhaps I'm missing something here (and I love a good 'interesting item find' as much as the next guy), but wouldn't an actual fortune cookie be a far more powerful a reveal than a metal novelty item?
"Fortune Cookie Surprise" was marketed by Diamond Jim years ago. Don't know if it's still available. And a lot of people have made their own Fortune Cookies, or learned the relatively easy process of buying regular fortune cookies and replacing the fortune with whatever you want (card, currency, prediction, etc.) Cheers, e |

I think you're correct, a real cookie would be much better but I just think this is a nice idea and an unusual item. For the price it's worth getting one to play around with.

John G, in his Penguin lecture, went over how to pre-load anything you want into a sealed fortune cookie your spectators can open themselves. Great thinking and easy.

You'd have to use this as dressing - an interesting decorative touch - for an effect that would stand on its own without it, IMO.

I see ur points...i just like the idea of having it on me and not breaking...im thinking of adding this to the pot of jam trick that james brown does and have a note inside that reads look up the coin is stuck to my forehead or in my eye...or put material in the cookie to hide the sound...do a ring routine for example divorce by JM end the routine with a flash paper vanish...move on to a few other tricks end with my ring and rope routine and cause the cookie to appear on the string..they open it and theres the ring...
Just a few thoughts ...
