Hi I have an interesting question. I have CoinMagic by Kaufman. I noticed it is a huge bonanza at 266 pages.
It also has a huge number of great illustrations. I have ordered other Kaufman books, but they seem like dwarf books compared to this. The other books of Kaufman's which I have are far shorter, and have fewer illustrations. Thus, they seem to be a lower quality overall than CoinMagic. Does anything else compare with CoinMagic? I am not implying there are or are not others like it out there. I just trust the shared wisdom at the MC to sort this out! I am expecting the mafiosos here to figure this out, to get to the very bottom of this issue! Thanks, scott |

Expert Coin Magic, The Vernon Touch, Stanyon's Magic (L&L also did this as well), The Lost Notebooks of John Northern Hilliard, Kaufman edition of Greater Magic, The Compleat Invocation, Talisman
And then what will never be ... Mr. Jennings Takes it Easy. This was supposed to be approximately 700 pages |

So it is a pretty sure thing that Mr. Jennings Takes It Easy isn't coming out? That's really unfortunate.

Hey Vlad, I knew if anyone knew this, it would be you.
I have decided to invest in books much more recently. Believe it or not, I had my dad's ex wife tossed my magic library in the trash (it was mostly still at his house because I thought I could safely leave it in my old room). No, I didn't do anything bad, but some people don't need an excuse to take it out on someone. But you are right. Books are needed in addition to some carefully chosen video teaching. thanks, scott |

This post sheds some new light and maybe new hope however: http://forums.geniimagazine.com/viewtopi......#p275598 http://forum.geniimagazine.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6800 contains a post dated 22 July 2001 in which Mr. Kaufman stated that the book was almost finished, so, this has been in the works for a long time. Only Mr. Kaufman and those involved in this project know the details as to why an almost finished book in 2001 somehow changed course an the latest post on the Genii forums is dated 2012. http://forums.geniimagazine.com/viewtopic.php?t=6850 contains a post in which Mr. Kaufman writes "Still working, albeit a bit slower. About six more sleights and six more tricks to write. Then it's time to take photos. Michael Albright will lay it out, so there's not bottleneck there. Fingers crossed for 2007!" Best, Vlad |

Hi All, Yes, I have not found evidence Richard gave up on the Jennings book. He's worked on it for so many years, with so much material, it may still be a few more years out; but it doesn't appear he's let it go.
TC, Coin Magic was Richard's FIRST project, when he was a teenager! He's stated how it practically "killed him off", it took so much work. Since then, he continues to be tenacious and tireless in his contributions to Magic. I believe it's the BODY of his work that should be focused on. A small book can be just as difficult to produce as a small one. You'll also find Kaufman has illustrated more "other" Magic books than most are aware of. Except for Harry Lorayne's contributions, IMO we'd still be stuck in the Dark Ages with broken instructions and woodcut illustrations if not for Richard Kaufman.

Actually, if memory serves, Richard Kaufman's first book was called Balls: Lessons in Side Arm Snookery. I used to have the book, but,I'm not into multiplying billiard balls so I gave it a friend.

The last I heard (from Richard directly) is that his primary focus right now, outside of Genii, is finishing the Theodore DeLand book. Perhaps he will turn to the Jennings book after that. I have also heard his Cliff Green book is in the pipeline but I have not heard from him directly about that one.

I briefly spoke with Richard at the S.A.M. convention in Washington, DC a few weeks back and he also mentioned that he's working on a large volume about Tenyo--the history and provenance, the tricks, etc. Don't remember if he's working this at the same time as the DeLand book or if it will come immediately after.

In regards to Mr. Jennings takes it easy, also saw this posted from Richard at the Genii Forum, but it was back on 8-7-12:

It would be wonderful to add the Jennings tome to my bookshelves, even if it's a year or two away, it would still be well worth the wait!

His other books are lower quality??? Um, Richard's Almanac. Secrets of Brother John Hamman, Card Craft books, Williamson's Wonders... and a lot more. All quality.

I don’t think he was "trying to start trouble" at all. His thank you post to Vlad belies that comment.
Some of Richard's books are not large, handsome hardbound tomes with nice dust covers like Coin Magic. One of his recent offerings for example, Knack Magic Tricks, is a paperback. (Though a large paperback!) I would guess that Vampiro had gotten another book or two from Richard that wasn’t quite as big and nicely finished as Coin Magic. And if his entire magic book collection was indeed tossed out in the trash by someone as he mentioned, he is probably trying to make sure he gets as much as he can for his money while trying to rebuild his library. I believe his banning is due to comments he made in another subforum totally unrelated to his posts here. Jim |

Really? And I own a copy! I know his name is listed as the author or "compiler" of the book so I thought - without looking at it before posting - that he sold it through his publishing house.
