I use Pocket Space all the time. More than eight "things". Does not take up much space in my wallet at all. I keep them in the billfold. Don't see how this could be any worse...
As for the "you could have more cards in your wallet" concern, when presented correctly, that question cancels itself out when the spectator realizes that there is no way you could hold 52 cards in your wallet. But you have to point out the fact that it could have been "any card".

It really is very little space in wallet, especially if you use notes rather than cards. I know the phrase "takes up no space" is meant figuratively, but it really does in my opinion. Far better than carrying a diary which will get worn. I bought two of these and instantly sold the spare as its made to last.

Good grief, comments and criticism are just met with nastiness and personal attacks in this thread with little about the effect itself. I have "hard-to-pronounce" problems and need to "study the basics more" because I disagree with you? I appreciate those who believe this effect to be suitable for them, and are willing to engage in a conversation about why I'm wrong. But those who contribute nothing but nastiness, get lost.

You say this BEFORE the reveal. You build up the effect. Why on earth would you compare that to explaining a joke?

Cameron,
When I went back and looked at previous posts, I realized you may not have meant "recapping your trick." I realize that both Sean and I replied as as that is what you meant. You could have potentially meant simply emphasizing the "fair choice" during the effect itself rather than going back over the procedures. If that is what you meant, I'm in agreement that an emphasis during the trick is sometimes important. However, the idea of recapping the effect at the end is never one that has left a great taste in my mouth. I've always felt that the magic should speak for itself. When Copperfield flies, he doesn't end the effect with a monologue which explains the conditions of his flight as being impossible. If he were to, it would then, to me, resemble a comedian explaining why his jokes are funny, "It's funny because the word "read" can mean 'read' like you're reading a book, or 'red' like the color..." In all honesty, I am a true fan of your work and I meant the question "Do you ever find this moment to be like a standup comedian explaining why his tricks are funny?" as a genuine question where the theory of a respected professional on this matter would provide guidance for aspiring professionals or just those who wish to "up their game." I did want to hear how a pro justifies this action, and maybe to hear a convincing argument as to why my "the magic should speak for itself" theory is not the best theory. I guess the playful tone of the question didn't go over well, because it seems as though your response was quick to shut me down rather than the aforementioned. I guess that's my fault. If you want to continue in PM, that's fine. I don't want to derail this thread any further. |

"How come all the 5's in this month land on the same card?" Loved fielding this question.
A discernable pattern, yet no user-friendly way to calculate the card without peeking or simply asking them which one you will have to dig for. I find more things to hate about this trick every day. I've given up on giving this trick a fair shake. I've tried it with iForce. It's more manageable. You're not making predictions after selections are made. It just doesn't hit hard, either way you perform it. EVEN WHEN I was still optimistic and enthusiastic about this trick. The only thing I gained from this effect is some reasonably interesting patter about cards being connected to the calendar. 4 seasons, 365 pips, etc. The presentation far supersedes the effect. |

I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death my right to say "scr*w you" if you persist. [Voltaire ]
