The "cover" line that I used for that bit, was: "Be sure and tell your parents, I said that!" (Most of my shows were school assemblies, so, the teachers got a good chuckle out of that!)

Also, when volunteer is about the cut the rope, I use the classic “remember, white is rope, pink is fingers...”

I use Emergency Scissors Shears for all my rope cutting. They have safety padding to make them safe for transport and being near skin, yet are sharp enough to cut through plaster. The curved angle helps in use and safety as well. There also cheap at £3 each, and come in a variety of colours for show branding.

Mark Leveridge has a fun Cut and Restored Rope routine using two child volunteers called ‘D.C.’s Rope Routine’. It is aimed at children aged 3-6.

Then I would add: "But before you go to bed, be sure to tell you parents about the $20." This always got a laugh from adults, although never the kids, because this isn't really kids' humor aimed at kids. The line of course is not original, lots of magicians use it. |

Noland,
It's possible that was a Sid Lorraine joke. I could be wrong about that, but I believe that line was in one of his patter books. Gerry |

Gerry, I believe that you are correct! I've given away all my "SL" books, to a young friend, so I can't "check", but it definitely "sounds" like Sid!
