Thanks for sharing but you need more light on you, rather than behind you, in order to see the coins better.
Out the 20 or so videos I've seen of the DFSTC, every single one has been to music. Is this prop just a toy magicians use to entertain themselves? I'd love to see a real world routine. Folks are always claiming on these forums how important it is to make the magic entertaining, but this doesn't seem to apply to this trick for whatever reason. Actually, I can think of 2 exceptions that weren't performed to music. Paul Richards does one on the extra video he supplies if you buy the coin from him, and Johnny Wong I don't believe used music but instead has that god awful whistle he does incessantly. How anyone could release a video that horribly bad is beyond me. Sorry J don't mean to harp but for me it was too distracting trying to figure out which coin was which, than to just relax and enjoy your routine. |

The video quality was crap for sure. Ill re do it with better lighting and a some real world patter. This video was just to show the casualness of the changes and ease of use. Mother more than a finger and thumb palm were used throughout the whole routine.

I meant visualness of the routine. And nothing more than a finger and thumb palm were used throughout the entire routine.

I agree that the music on some videos is distracting rather than entertaining. (Plus I wish that YouTube had a volume levelizer built-in!)
The routine was OK but to me it seemed a little, maybe "disorganized" is the right word? IOW it looked like a bunch of sleights tossed together without a script. Maybe I'm wrong and I just missed it. John, you kept bringing your hands out of frame up toward your mouth, or face. Made me think at one point that you were ditching coins that way... Not trying to sound too critical, and I do appreciate that you took the time and effort to produce and publish the video. Thank you. Jim |

It's hard to film with an iphone and I should have not used music. When I was bringing the hands up to my face I was blowing on the coins to initiate the change.

Sorry John if my previous post sounded harsh. I do very much appreciate all the contributions you have shared regarding this prop.
I have a handling of my own that I am happy with but have never performed it for anyone because my stumbling block is devising an entertaining presentation. One constructive criticism I would share about your routine is that I felt it took way too long to get to the production of the first coin, and overall if you could streamline the movements, seemed Ike a lot of wasted movement. I'm still wondering also if the thinness of these coins are a problem in the real world. Obviously they look fine on video, but what about doing this for a small group of perhaps 2 or 3 people? I'm nervous if the thinness will really fly by unnoticed, not to mention the odd sound (or lack of sound) these coins create? Again, have never seen a video of an actual performance. Bill |

I always have some distance from spectators and just show Head/Tail side to them. From lateral view is not OK for DFSTC (and I think T.U.C has the same problem too.)
