How much of your show requires sleight of hand.
More and more magicians seem to be luring away from this and relying on all self working effects. I usally do 50% of my show with sleight effects. What about you.I would like to see your input on this. Todd |

For stand up acts most of my magic is self-working because I like to use bigger props. For close-up entertainment, most of my magic is sleight of hand. During kid shows I am not bias toward sleight of hand or self working. It all depends on what the effect is.

My shows are based on what will work with kids. Since there is such a wide range of things you can do sleights don't really figure into the equation. Everyone is different of course. Those that can do difficult sleights tend to perform those kinds of tricks and those that can't don't. When it comes to performing for kids and I think adults as well sleights are not an issue. There are so many tricks that play well that require little in the way of sleights. Probably the most advanced sleights I do are with sponge balls and those are probably the easiest sleights to do. I personally find that sleights for kids really doesn't mean anything. They want to be entertained and that's the bottom line. At any rate those are my thoughts.
