Can someone recommend some resources for pendulum use and routines?
Despite my dislike of e-books " The Pendulum magic a guide for mystery performers" looks like something I should get. Is there anything else solely devoted to the topic of pendulums? |

Shameless self-promotion; Trybil is on sale at 40% off.
"I finally had a chance to read Bill’s wonderful book on pendulums. Without a doubt, this is the best book ever written on the subject. I recommend it without reservation to anyone who is serious about this type of work." – Bob Cassidy Also, after checking out the thread posted above, I'd add Kenton Knepper's Pendulum Programming. As well as second the votes for David Theil's collections and Richard Webster's Pendulum Power. |

Hi, Ed...
You're where I was several years ago. There just aren't a ton of resources for PERFORMERS who want to learn more about using pendulums. Not sure why, since they are splendid props that deliver HUGE reactions and allow "magic" to happen in the hands of the audience. No reset...no batteries. But here are the resources I found useful: 1) Pendulum of Fate by Bob Cassidy -- which combines great general teaching about pendulums and several wonderful routines. 2) Pablo Amira has a complete course on pendulum use -- which is outstanding. 3) Dr. Bill's Trybil is a classic with contributions from a pantheon of people. Very strong material. 4) The Pendulum Magic series (yup...ours) has three books with three completely different focuses. "Guide" is for the newer pendulum users. Great routines in this one -- including a wonderful pendulum "system" contributed by Richard Osterlind. "Routines" is designed to give the reader some solid ideas for building effects with pendulums...outstanding storytelling blended with pendulums. "Masterworks" are some of the strongest routines I've read anywhere. This isn't an entry-level book...not because the routines are hard to perform (they aren't)...but they tend to require a higher level of presentation. All of these are ebooks or digital material. As others have indicated, Richard Webster's book is also very good -- and coming from a performer with a distinctly unique perspective. Hopefully this is useful to you. David

There are a couple of articles in "Liber Mentis" (I wrote one of them). There's a cut-down version of my article at http://barrydcooper.wordpress.com/category/pendulum/ together with a couple of videos based on Kenton's work. I never made the third intended video because I could't work out how to condense Kenton's programming ideas into a few minutes. Maybe I'll take another look...
For pendulum and dowsing work generally I can recommend anything by Tom Graves - I have "The Elements of Pendulum Dowsing" which is excellent. The full reference is in the blog mentioned above. Barry |

Webster also has a shut-eye book on dowsing that may prove of interest.
A big thumbs up on everything else listed here. |

Doesn't Richard Webster have a shut-eye book on dowsing?

It's possible.
Where might I have heard of it before? |

In recent weeks I have been experimenting a lot with pendulums - especially a multi-bob one - and have become quite smitten. Not only are they fascinating and visually appealing but also offer the perfomer many possibilities.
In my research, I've been reading Bill Cushman's Trybil. It is excellent and a real eye opener. For anyone interested in exploring the potential of pendulums I heartily recommend. Thanks Bill - your writing and insights have helped me enormously. Neil |
