This Labor Day weekend I'm posting what I think is the most incredible thing I've ever shared on my blog. Thanks to Jon Oliver, Stanley Palm, and with the blessings of John C. Hinson and the Hinson family, I'm posting audio extracts of an interview with Marie Hinson (Rahner), sister of Bess Houdini, made around 1980. In this amazing interview we hear Marie (who passed away in 1982 at age 95) talking in great detail about her sister and brother-in-law, Houdini. What did Bess and her sister get up to behind Houdini's back? You can hear that in the first installment which I've just posted here:
http://www.wildabouthoudini.com/2013/08/......ini.html Tomorrow I'll post Marie's recollections of traveling with Harry and Bess to Newport, RI, for a private show. Then on Monday (Labor Day) I'll post what might very well be the most intimate recollection of Bess Houdini ever to be made public. I think everyone will really enjoy these. |

Honored to get a call this morning from John Hinson, the great nephew of Harry and Bess Houdini, who said he had "tears in his eyes" hearing his grandmothers voice on my blog yesterday.
Here's today's installment. http://www.wildabouthoudini.com/2013/09/......nis.html |

Okay, this is the big one. This is detailed, loving, sometimes funny, and even in places a little macabre. It's family.

And here's the last installment. Not one for the haters as it shows Houdini to have been quite generous. Very cool reference to how Houdini would do magic at the dinner table, but never repeat a trick.
