I'd get jay Sankey's assassins pouch. Penguin has for under $20. By a magician. For magicians.

Penguin is out of stock on the assassin's pouch.
Sankey's site hasn't had it or ages. Any other sources anyone know of? |

I've seen them on EBay.
Google them as well. Other dealers carry them. Try putting up a WTB post in the tricks for sale area. That's how I Got mine. For $15 shipped. |

Sorry guys, I think things like Sankey's pouch and this other thing just look awful. Maybe to carry stuff TO a gig, but not during. The places I work at I'd be a laughing stock if I wore a little fanny pack or man-purse while I was working.

Well, since it sits under my jacket for the most part and is about the size of a camera case, its not a problem for me.

Yeah, if it's hidden from view, maybe. I just think that I'd be digging too much. My entire act is in my pockets and easy to access.

Depends on if I need the extra space. I carry so many effects on my keychain and in my wallet and bands on my wrist. that's all I usually carry. If I need to extra space, I might grab the pouch.
I have a mikame table that's great for table hopping. has storage in the middle. works great. |

It is a bit geeky looking but I like the Trickster Hipster. I bought mine from penguin for $26 but later found the same thing on tactical gear sites for over $50! But generally I prefer just my pockets.
http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S13366 I bought an Assasins Pouch and it fell apart quick! And the grommet hole that is supposedly for IT was sharp and snagged anything nearby. |

The Maxpedition Jumbo S-Type Versipack is OK for transport but not great for use during performance. The closure flap really gets in the way when you need into the main pocket. Depending on what you need to carry you might try the holsters from High Caliber Magic. I liked mine so much I have Joel making me a customized one.

All,
So I was thinking about something like the trickster Hipster the other day because usually I carry a lot of stuff. Then I read Jamie Grants how many tricks should you know and I got a great idea. Where the venue permits I do the following. At my normal restaurant I am able to put my gig case in back of the bar. So here is what I did. I took the tricks that I perform flawlessly and made a list. I then took this list and grouped them based on type (Duplicity is sorta like color monty, etc.). I ended up with 5 groups so I took one of each and made 5 acts. I put each act into a plastic bag with a label of all needed items. When I perform I perform each act for 1/5 of the gig time. I quickly go to my case take all the tricks off my body and place them in the bag. I then load up the next act. I carry very little now and it makes it easier to prepare as I have the list on the bag. I normally wear a suit so the trickster hipster or assassin's pouch would not look good. Here are some photos of my new system. Act 1 http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm190/BYUDAD/photo11.jpg Act 2 http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm190/BYUDAD/photo8.jpg Act 3 http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm190/BYUDAD/photo9.jpg Act 4 http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm190/BYUDAD/photo7.jpg Act 5 http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm190/BYUDAD/photo6.jpg Case packet with each act next to each other Iact 2-5) from left to right. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm190/BYUDAD/photo12.jpg Act 1 lies on top of Acts 2-5. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm190......5494.jpg My Case locked up. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm190/BYUDAD/photo10.jpg Again this only takes one minute to ditch and load as I have 5 pockets I work out of. It makes it very simple. I work the right pant pocket first, then the right coat pocket, then the left coat pocket, then the left pant pocket and finally the inside left coat pocket. When I replace that prop I remove a card, give it to the table, thank them and move on. This is what I use and it has so far prevented me from resorting to bags and fanny pack like apparatus. There were so many complaints about sankey's assassin pouch that several people asked me to make them something similar out of leather.
Not sure I have a pic of that but I know I have one. I'm not a fan of large visible bags at formal events, especially if they make you look like a telephone repair man. I use a few of my own designs for busking, festivals and casual events. Here's a different under-jacket pouch of much higher quality. tiny but just big enough to hold ninja rings, if necessary. Here's a larger one.. the hip pouch. A new version of this "the stubby" will be similar but half the size. Perfect for chop cup loads or even a few limes. The first ones should be available in a week or so.

Those booth look very cool Frank. I assume they go on with belt loops?

Yes, they can be belt loops or belt clips.
The hip pouch is belt loop, by default. The strolling pouch is a belt clip, by default.
