Hello Friends,
I have just realized that I have taken in a blunder while I had intimated to you about the ‘MagiXposed’ section of the current (vol. #03, Issue #01) issue of TGM. Somehow, I missed to discuss about an excellent and most bewildering mental magic by Nakul Shenoy and Guy M Townsend, which is a modification of the Baffling Book (Test) by none other than Aldo Colombini. Here goes the story: When I first received the ‘Baffling Book’ and performed it for a group of people including a couple of magicians, the result intrigued me for its sheer simplicity in performance and its impact on the audience. Then just out of curiosity I forwarded the effect to my young friend Nakul Shenoy—one of the best Mentalist in the country without mentioning creator Aldo Colombini’s name. In the next mail came his enthusiastic comments plus some suggestions for the betterment of the effect. I was impressed with his brainy suggestions. I sent the original effect to my learned friend Guy Townsend along with Nakul’s suggestions. Again, the feedback arrived fast—full of praise for Nakul’s suggestions; and yes, Guy too had some innovative ideas to improve the entire effect. That was forwarded to Nakul to find out what he thought about Guy’s suggestion. Well, now Nakul too admitted that Guy’s version was too good but he suggested a little change. By this time, I’m tired of acting as a go-between sent the article back to Guy and he without wasting time sent back his approval on Nakul’s additions. Immediately I realized that two experts who understand their art have produced a series of Gems in Mentalism! Finally, Guy has rewritten the entire episode threading all the ‘Gems’ into a complete necklace that when I sent to the originator Aldo Colombini, here is what he has said: “Solyl, thanks for the magazine. I always checked it with pleasure. The book test idea is very good and it is a great variation on our Baffling Book. I like it very much. Best always, my friend, Aldo” So that's about it, folks. Now go ahead and try it in your next club meeting for sure-fire appreciations! BTW, please join me in thanking Nakul Shenoy and Guy Townsend for their kind consent in publishing their ideas here for the benefit of the TGM members. Thank you friends! Oh yes, grab a copy of this issue of TGM which is still available with Lybrary.com Best regards, Solyl solylkundu@gmail.com
