Hi guys,
It's been a while since I posted here on the forum. Once in a while I do read some posts. But this is something I really want to share. I love performing impromptu mentalism and I came across two ebooks that really made me happy. José Prager's Goat's Grymoire (GG) and Art Vanderlay's Reaching Beyond The Sun (RBTS). They are both filled with many practical effects. In GG there is an effect called "3386" which is a very nice (actually great) spectator's pin number revelation. On it's own it works perfectly, yes even in the real world. But then I read an effect in RBTS called "My Mind or Yours". Combining the principles used in both effects make the cleanest, inexplicable impromptu pin number revelation that I know of. As far as I'm concerned it doesn't get any cleaner than this unless you're a real mindreader. So check them out. Before we get into the discussion about should we even reveal a pin number: Depending on the situation I don't actually use their real pin number. I let them make one up. But you could do it with their real pin number. I do believe that revealing a pin number is one of the strongest things you can do as a mindreader. Bart.

I wouldn´t use the real pin number. This is something most people would never reveal to someone. I would let him make up a fake Pin number.

That's awesome Bart! I've been strongly considering the purchase of Goat's Grimoire, and this gives me even more reasons to do so. I feel like a solid pin code divination is essential for any mentalism act. Really happy you've got such a killer--thanks for the tips!

It can only be used in the right circumstance but when it is used it is a reputation maker since the actual number is revealed without any pumping whatsoever, nothing written down, etc. When I have performed this, I do take precautions to make sure that it is ok to reveal the numbers. I agree one has to be careful because even if the spectator wishes to change his home alarm PIN, often that PIN is the same one they use for ATM, computer passwords, etc. You don't want someone having to spend hours changing all their codes.... |

I like Jose's and will have to look at the other one. I've released my own effect of this genre which is aptly titled ATM which has some nice feedback on the latest and greatest. It will be interesting to read Art's version to see if I can apply any of his thinking to mine.
Thanks for the heads up Michael

Yes, Inspired is a great book by Brehaut, and I was lucky enough to get a copy.

Have you see the pin revelation on 'The Devil in Disguise' by Pete Turner.
There are no props used as such, nothing for the spectator to choose from, nothing written down or spoken. It does seem very direct and exceedingly fair. I've yet to try it (I've a gig with students over the weekend this will be my chance) |
