Just thought I would inform all the Dark Magic and Bizarrists who lurk in the cellar of my short film Talk of the Devil. It's a costume comedy horror set in Georgian period in London in 1755. It's the tale of a drink sodden card sharp; Montague and his malodorous man servant; Bullingdon. Down on their luck and down to their last pennies Montague devises a scam; a seance! Fresh from the most fashionable salons in Paris, Montague spies money in this emerging market. Setting up their own seance they successfully live off immoral earnings until things turn very bizarre. They are visited by a genuine supernatural visitor. He's big, nasty and he's ****ed off.
If you like Rabelasian humour, razor sharp period dialogue and eye popping visual effects - Talk of the Devil is the film for you. More info and a cool animation can be found here: Talkofthedevil.net You can also follow progress on twitter by following @montyandbully I have a wonderful cast coming together, great locations and an amazing special effects crew. I will update the Café when I have significant news - like when our fundraising campaign goes live. This story encompasses everything I love about the bizarre scene - history, devils and a bloody scare! Do join me on the journey to get this made. |

Although we normally associate seances with the victorian era they were in existence much earlier across Europe -
"One of the earliest books on the subject of communication amongst deceased persons was Communication With the Other Side by George, First Baron Lyttelton, published in England in 1760." I am also using poetic license! |
