Just recieved my "Candle to fan"-trick. My question is: Has anyone made this actually work? Trying not to reveal anything here...but it´s hard to make the candle look like a candle.
Well, at least it´s a nice fan, I guess I can use it for a snowstorm routine... |

It's garbage. My "candle" gimmick fell apart the day it arrived. The fan is indeed great for snowstorm, but the way this was marketed is an absolute insult to magicians.

Flagre, Michael P. Lair has been around in magic a long time. His products have been known to not be the best assembly process known. If you would post some inquires before sending off your dollars. We here on the Café at times may be able to save you some heartache dollars.
On YouTube there is a young magician performing a Candle to Fan trick in his silent manipulation act. It looked very good, but with some knowledge it can be seen how it was accomplished. I cannot locate the video, but it does look good. I don't know for sure, but I think that is where he discovered the idea. It could be all Michael P. Lair's, but I seem to remember the video was out before the item was offered for sale. The young man, produced the Candle to Fan using a steal with the aid of a silk. It is not held for any real length of time, before the transformation. As for the trick, yes it is a good trick, but it is only for stage at a distance, in my opinion. The "candle" is similar looking to a Fantasio Candle, this is a magician's trick that has been on the market for years, so long that it has been announced that they will no longer be available soon. I am sure the young man fooled a lot of magicians who are familiar with Fantasio Candles, because the magician just think he was holding a Fantasio Candle. Having said that, I have used a Fantasio Candle in client's living rooms only a few feet away, and the client got so excited because she thought that my candle would drip wax on her carpet. So I would say you really have to try the trick out in the real world, using a Fantasio Candle first, then introduce the Candle to Fan and see how the audience responds to the trick. Just looking at magic device does not tell the real effect it may have on an audience. I would give it a chance if used in conjunction with the Vanishing Candle first. Vanish the Candle, then produce the Candle Fan, lite it and make the change. Sometimes we are to close to the trees to see the whole forest, unless we step back. I have had a number of Michael P. Lair's magic tricks, and had to remake them to last a while. Fire and tape don't mix well, when it came to his Fire To Fan Trick for me. |

Its garbage. Electrical tape + gimmick = waste of money. He should be ashamed of himself for putting that trick out.
