He also had some great ideas (Larry Becker) in his 2000 lecture notes...that I have found many people do not have, which would make THAT particular presentation that much more special.

Brandon is referring to some nice "built-in" Horoscope and (or) Handwriting Analysis reading on the card. Makes for a very nice routine. The artwork provided is a little on the small side, so one can (I did) enlarge the size 200 to 300 percent on a Xerox machine for use with larger audiences. They are re-usable, so you do not have to replace the cards every performance. Very clever.
Well worth trying to get hold of the notes which contain a few other gems that were not included in Stunners Plus! MS |

For fans of Sneak Thief - which I maintain is the single-most underrated and underused premise in all of Mentalism,
I have just released a sort of tribute to Sneak Thief and its predecessor Max Maven's Desire, called "Devious Aspirations," which brings several changes to the presention including some really strong subtleties. It also includes 10-different presentational themes/routines. Not only that but a set of clandestinely marked whiteboards and everything else you need to perform the routine. We just sold-out at MINDvention, but will have more stock early next week at www.MentalismTools.com Here's what a few people have already said about Devious Aspirations: "A breakthrough in Mentalism thinking and performance. While you have to put some work in, it pays you back in spades. And it’s funny too! Don't pass this up…better yet pass it up so I can have the exclusive joy.” – Marc Salem “Desire/Sneak Thief is one of the strongest mentalism effects you can perform with such ordinary objects. Eric has taken the time to put together a very nice kit with everything you need and routine ideas that are worth every penny. Love it!" - Craig Filicetti “When it comes to mind reading (and cooking), I have always found that the “classic” recipes are always the most delicious and satisfying. With his new “Devious Aspirations,” Eric Samuels has taken two of the most beloved and powerful classics and added many new thoughtful ingredients, to create a feast of a routines and extra ideas that improve greatly on the originals. The props & kit provided are simply perfect (and devious!), and this gets my highest recommendation. Outstanding!” – Brett Barry “I found myself nodding over and over again as I read through these routines because I could see how beautifully they would play. Your understanding of the many nuances that make presenting this effect stronger also kept me smiling. Devious Aspirations is a brilliant update to one of the most powerful and underrated effects in all of mentalism. Great thinking, Eric!” – David Thiel “This is wonderful stuff. The presentational touches, the staging to maximize impact, alone are worth the price.” - Travis Winkler “First class! It is so well thought out and put together. And what a pleasure to read an actual booklet that you have taken the time to write. I appreciate your efforts and professionalism so much.” – Andy Schneider "Eric once again delivers a home run! Devious Aspirations is great. Packs small, plays big, and a great commercial reputation maker for the true professional. So many great ideas are included in the booklet!" - Adrian Saint, The Saint Twins |

Has anyone got Devious Aspirations? I really like the premise of Sneak Thief and wondered if someone has been using this version since the last post?

I have Devious Aspirations and perform with it from time to time. In my experience, the props are very useful in performance, and the manual advances the effect from the Becker original.

You can make up your own version (I prefer Desire) for less than a dollar with 5 business cards. I usually use a window envelope placed inside a sealed envelope for the final revelation instead of the Maven/Becker method.

Devious Expectations is designed for stage/parlor performance and is now available in both dry erase whiteboards and chalk blackboards (the latter includes a set of chalk-holders so that your participants don't leave the stage with messy hands).
Indeed, you can create your own version of the basic props for no money at all (Michael Weber used empty pizza boxes for a fantastic routine at MV some years back), but there is far more to this release than the included set of marked boards (which can be used over and over and employ a foolproof and easily read 'system'). The included booklet includes multiple presentational themes as well as myriad staging tips, subtleties, and modifications to the original presentation(s) which those who have read and performed the work believe have moved the premise forward and greatly enhanced the impact. Cheers, Eric |

I am sure the presentational themes are very good Eric as your work has always been to a high standard. When are you publishing your book?
