Runner Runner, the motion picture, staring Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake, hits theaters’ October 4. It was written by Brian Koppelman and David Levein (the guys who wrote “Rounders”), and is built around the unscrupulous nature of off-shore gambling.

Affleck plays the owner of a gaming operation and Timberlake plays an affiliate who gets screwed by “a rogue software engineer” and eventually goes to work for Affleck.

It is somewhat inspired by the UltimateBet/AbsolutePoker cheating scandal although there is actually very little poker in the movie.

Evidently one hope for the movie is if enough people see it they will get an understanding of exactly why regulation is required and how much money and jobs they are losing out on by not having online gaming.

The above comes from the October Issue of Bluff magaxine but interested readers will find trailers and additional commentary on the movie by doing an Internet search.

An old-time hustler told me many years ago, "It is cold on the outside," meaning that there is more money to be gotten from hustling from the inside than from trying to hustle from the outside. Smile
