Was that a wild game winner? Intentional or not it was obstruction. Who knew? I had him out on the call and didn't understand what the home plate umpire was even calling while pointing to third base. As Casey used to say, Amazin.

And Jim Joyce--who made one of the most embarrassingly bad calls in recent years--got the call right this time.

Great game with a bizarre finish. Saltalamacchia's throw wasn't exactly the best but certainly given the pressure of the game and the fact that neither manager had a lot left to work with in their respective 'pens and benches, Saltalamacchia had to try for the out at third.
Game one was a laugher, game two was a crash course on bad defense, game three was a battle right up to the part that some spectral cavalry charged onto the field. Game four looks like it COULD be a slugfest. But, that said, with the way this series has been playing out, it could end up being a pitcher's duel. Buckle up fans of both teams!! |

Being a life long New Englander, we have had our fair share of ups & downs. This series will NOT be any different!

It's been called "controversial", but had it occurred in the fifth there probably wouldn't have been more than a passing comment.

That may be true, but as a World Series game ender, it's up there. Maybe not in Bill Buckner territory as a game ender, but memorable just the same. And I'm not disparaging Bill Buckner by the way. I have nothing but respect and admiration for him, especially because of the way he continued with his life and remains a gentleman.

This certainly trumps the 2004 series. It would be great to see it go to 7 games. With the Red Sox coming out on top....of course!

I used to love pro baseball back in the day when you knew the team rosters from year to year and when you had to sneak a radio into school to listen to the Series.
Not so much now... College baseball, on the other hand...

Well done~ The thing is, had Jim Joyce blown the call this time, then he would have been escaping only to run into himself. He managed to avoid it. Kinda gives one hope. Here's an interesting article about the blown call: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/otl/news/story?id=5993137 It's a beautiful story, actually. Forget the death threats and such. When the smoke had cleared, Jim and Galarraga had shown themselves to be class acts. Everybody makes mistakes: not all of us apologize and receive forgiveness. Had Jim blown the obstruction call, there would have been a bad day in Mudville. So all is well. EXCEPT for the fact that neither the Tigers nor the O's are in the World Series. @%%%#a(! IT! |

Game 4 ends with a pickoff at first, the only time this has happened to end a WS game. Baseball demigods playing around with mortals? Considering the ending of game 3 I'd say yes.
Games two, three, and four have been great and weird. I wonder what game 5 holds tonight? |

Worst pinch-runner ever! Picked off first with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth down by two? Really?!

One win away and coming home to Boston! Jon Lester just masterful tonight!!! Game six will certainly be a barn burner, the cardinals will definately be bringing their "A" game to Beantown. This has been awesome series for both sides.

So far, my prediction of the Red Sox in seven is holding up. Bad night for St. Louis. The Rams lost also- to the Seahawks.
