I'm curious as to whether any Italian or French subscribers to The Magic Café have any information about the film "Rocambole" starring Channing Pollock. The still from the movie show here:
http://image.toutlecine.com/photos/r/o/c......02-g.jpg makes me think it might have some good card manipulation sequences. It looks like Channing Pollock might be about to execute the standard deck vanish and recovery. I'm hoping that there may be a DVD available in Italian or French--and if there is, what stores in Italy or France might have a copy for sale. Although such a DVD would probably be in PAL format rather than NTSC, I would guess that a video production service would be able to convert it. I would even consider purchasing a region-free DVD player that plays all regions so I could watch it that way. Please note that there have been multiple productions of "Rocambole" from 1914 to 1963. According to this International Movie Database entry http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0180102/ it looks like the Channing Pollock version was released on 8 May 1963 in France. (There was apparently a television serial broadcast over three seasons of twenty-six 15-min. episodes from 1964–65 that is unrelated to the 1963 production directed by Bernard Borderie.) ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez
