What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

No surprise, so why would you even remark upon it?
If there were no checks and balances on your President's powers, if he was allowed to imprison (and possibly sanction kill) those who disagreed with him as Putin does, confiscate his nation's wealth for his own personal benefit as Putin does, and effectively control (really control) the media as Putin does, I imagine your President would be number one. Is that what you would prefer? Otherwise, it's not a fair contest. Putin will be number one for as long as he wants to rule, as long as he wants to be number one. No matter who plays the role of President of the USA over the next decade or two. I mean, unless Putin gets sloppy and paroles Pussy Riot early or something like that.

"It was the first time in three years that the US president has dropped to second place on the magazine's list and came as US-Russia relations slid to a new low."
I think that says more about the pro-U.S. bias in the previous rankings (not that it has been completely eliminated given that 4 of the top 10 are U.S. citizens), than anything else.

President Obama is maybe the most powerful puppet. I would put Dick Chaney above President Obama. I really don't know who the most "Powerful" person is. I suspect there is a most powerful group but not single person.

The guy with nothing to lose usually is the most powerful person in the world.
At least for a brief moment.

I am also glad we didn't get involved in Syria. My god, it's a mess over there. Even the people fighting the Syrian regime don't seem like "good guys" to me (some of these rebels are Al-queda terrorists and are the enemy). Over there in the Middle East, with the mentality they have, those people will turn on you in a minute and the ones we try to go and help would probably just turn on us any way, so why bother? I think it was good to sit this one out, especially since we have been involved in two wars here recently that were pretty costly and the fact that those you go try to help would probably just turn on you anyway. You have to grow eyes in the back of your head when you are in the Middle East because you can't trust anybody over there.

Completely agree, Syria is not a place we want to be.

Dick Cheney is still calling shots and giving advice to many. His years as president of vice he arranged no less than 6 secret (and illegal) meetings in the White House, between heads of Haliburton and the then "President" George Bush Jr. These meetings were to set up contracts for Haliburton's role in the Iraq war. Everyone knows (or should know) that after Cheney left office he reaped great reward for his role in getting Haliburton into the profit making war. Cheney is a member of the Bilderberg group as well as Hillary Clinton and other's in our Political gang. When Haliburton only had to pay a $200,000 fine for destroying evidence that would be incriminating in the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, don't think for a second that Mr. Cheney had nothing to do with the slap on the wrist. Who do I think the REAL powerful person is? Ben Bernanke! When Janet Yellen takes over the Federal Reserve, she will be most powerful. Just my opinion on this subject. You don't have to agree and I'm very sure you don't. Iven

I actually agree with much of what you wrote. Except for the notion that the Bilderberg Group is some kind of conspiracy. The group really doesn't have "members" per se as different people are invited to attend each year.

The Oracle of Delphi in her new guise is still the most powerful personage on the planet.

No Bob. The Climate.
There she goes babbling away, off her head on emissions, with her attendants, the climatologists, interpreting what she said and giving the prophesies out to the believers. And anyone who does not know the Manipution of Delphi is Muggle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilz8kYYjKwM
