Do you need a licens, to do, street and stage hypnosis (I'm not talking about the hypnotherapy only, hypnosis for entertainment purposes).
And does it differ from USA, Enland and Denmark? -Oscar |

No, Oscar, you don't. Most countries are fairly cool with it. The exceptions I know about are Isreal and the UK, where they have silly laws restricting things. I am guessing you are from Denmark, and I don't know the specifics of that country, but I would be surprised if there are any restrictions. Particularly on the street.

If you were around in the early 90s when hypnosis just went crazy here and we were infested with a lot of really bad hypnotists you might realize that in fact the law isn't that silly. Although of course it goes back to 1952.
Although its a pain I don't think its entirely a bad thing. If you want to do professional shows with all the safety checks in place then its not a problem at all. But if you don't then I guess it probably is. Its now very easy to get a license these days. If street hypnosis ever became really popular and it started to cause problems I'm pretty sure it would be extended to street. But I doubt it will ever become that popular. |

MP, the law is silly because the legislators had no idea what hypnosis is or isn't. Whether regulation is needed or not is another matter. The 1952 Act is a load of ********.
Being Irish I am against regulation. But then I am against all law and order. It does not sit well with the Celtic temperament.

You are also against a driving license Tony. you learned how to drive in an hour if I remember right from your father then drove a car. I am pleased we do have to pass driving tests in order top drive!
The issue isn't whether we know what hypnosis is or isn't - its about hypnosis being abused and members of the public being put at risk by idiots. And it does and has happened. At the moment things seemed top be a lot more relaxed and hypnosis does seem to be showing signs of a little come back at least. If it does become really popular again then the problems associated with it will once again appear and things won't be as relaxed. I'm Scottish I have a Celtic temperament but I think regulation within reason is a good thing. |

MP, we will never agree on regulation. You live too near the Sasanach, and have had your Celtic instincts diluted.
Some legislation may benefit a society (don't think so but I am open to the idea). However bad legislation benefits no one. And the 1952 act was a load of ****e.

Well at least it has stopped a load ****e from unloading a lot more ****e onto an already **** upon market...
That can only mean some good **** to me.. When I do decide to do shows I don't mind going through the process. Its absolutely free. So I don't see a problem with it. For those that want to do small shows in the sticks you can still get away without a license so long as you are careful and you are ware of the risks involved. Its only when problems arise on a regular basis do councils go out of their way to enforce the law. Human nature to not do so in these cases would be putting their own necks at risk otherwise they don't give a ****. Although things are a bit more relaxed here these days you will find that a lot of venues will still not have a hypnotist on the premises because of the past. |
