I have not really done many reviews. So I hope that you will find this somewhat useful.
I have literally just finished watching it. This is one of those effects, that there are so many variations out there which one do I use? I have looked at quite a few of these and even as Karl Heinstein says in the beginning on this DVD. There are so many that you need to switch in and out. Ditch something, or switch around. That he never found some of the more well known versions useful for his performing situation. For me. I just don' t work enough to learn (and retain) a lengthy step/procedure for a t&r. Well Karl has certainly!!! Found a way to make this effect easy and well within reach of many performers. The DVD is 40 minutes long. And in this short amount of time Karl gives you insight as to how & why he came up with this handling. 3!! Versions of the effect. A flash restoration, in the spectators hand restoration, and the good old piece by piece restoration, the great thing about this is that any ending you want to use. The procedure to get there is the same for all 3. The explanations are extremely clear and very well explained. Each phase (and I shouldn't even use the word phase. Because it flows SO SMOOTHLY. But each part of the effect is so clear there is nothing to be misunderstood. As with anything I have of Karl's it has just surpassed my expectations. At $29.95 this is a effect that you can and will use in the real world. My opinion price, details,,performace, and explanations. This is a 5 out of 5 If you want to do a T&R this is a must get. Thanks for reading Eddy

How is this different from Torched and Restored?

Sorry should of put that... I would give it a3 out of 5 for difficulty.. Handling is very simple. But this is something you will just want to be comfortable with handling before showing.
Sorry Eric.. Not very familiar with torched & restored.

Saw this demo'd at the magic shop yesterday, the flash restoration. Signed card, a few folds, tear, and then boom, restored. Looked pretty good; the demonstrator said he was still working on it, but it certainly amazed the layperson who was with me. From what I could tell, you end dirty, but it doesn't seem difficult to do a ditch as you hand the spec the restored card to examine.

This does look good, the only thing that caught my eye, and makes me apprehensive is that the spectator does not sign or initial the card. The performer ask for their name or initials and writes it for them.
The initial presentation with the flash restore reminds me of the John Mendoza Torn & Restored Playing Card from 1970's. I am not saying it is, just that I could see it could be converted to this flash restoration. Been a while since I performed it, but still have the manuscript. The Piece by Piece is where we are today, and that is much more impressive to my way of thinking at this point. I agree this has some feeling that this is kind of a Torched and Restored, but this presentation is more dirty with his restore move. This is one I would really actually buy as seems to have some good possibilities. |

Ideally the card is signed in an a particular quarter of the card. You could easily put a circle or a line on the card and ask the spectator to initial the card at that spot.
It is similar torched and restored and Karl gives credit. |

Bill,
The spectator can sign the card. A little spectator management is required to ensure they sign or initial the card on or around the index. However even if they didn't it wouldn't really matter. Quote: On 2013-12-01 10:39, Bill Hegbli wrote:

Looks like a great T&R effect. I just placed an order for it. The last T&R I've purchased was Torn by Daniel Garcia. I did enjoy performing it, but it's not that great for close up.
Hope Heinstein's Dream lives up to my expectations. I really like the restoration in the spectator's hands. |

I can't believe Karl brought this out to the masses!! I was hoping he would keep this a secret. Heinstein's Dream is an excellent t&r effect. I purchased this three to four years ago at one of Karl's lectures and it is the only T&R card effect I would do. I also have Torn and Cameron Francis T&R card effect but only use Heinstein's Dream.
Heinstein's Dream is easy to do the card can be signed by the spectator (in one corner). You do end dirty but you use the dirty hand to hand out the restored card. "Dirty portion" is also easy to ditch. Effect will take some practice but it is easy to do. You will need to make up the gimmicks but it is very easy to do. Karl is an excellent teacher. Highly recommend |

Has anyone living in South Africa purchased this? If so, please PM me, I'm experiencing some problems as the shops here don't have a large range of ****.
