When I worked with older kids (at the maximum security prison) I called them by their last name. They did the same. At parties and school, it is great to use their names. Doc Eason's multiple card is even more incredible when you hear him call the owner of each card by name. Our names are important. Side note, I think my mom called everyone "Honey", so she wouldn't have to remember their names. For me, the use of "guys" is particularly noticeable in Washington State schools and preschools. When I was a kid, students wore school uniforms, teachers were feared and respected, and NEVER wore flip-flops. That automatic language overuse has already caught on over here in the UK. I HATE "Awesome" and "Absolutely Awesome" and "Absolutely" and "Absolutely Fantastic" ... not to mention 'Guys' ... 'honestly, absolutely honestly guys' John |
