Long since discontinued as a manuscript or "workshop plans", does any one have information on how I might obtain one? Is it in print elsewhere?

Didn't Mike Caveny have a barrel and broom escape thing in one of his books? You might try Rshelley@westel.com...I thkn he has either a box & broom or barrel & broom plan for sale...they are basically the same, but for the box...He usually has a half-dozen auctions going on Ebay (forgot his moniker) but you could search for Professor Marvel on Ebay.
Build your own: Get the brooms, the barrel and a hole-driller (or forstner bit) and start a whakkin'. You'll figure it out quick enough. You might consider two of the large plastic blow-molded half-barrel plastic planters, they'll nest for packing and you can easily rig how to lock them together for showtime. Personally, I think these are the best kinds of illusions. Ordinary Real stuff used and impossible. Best- Tom

Also try Robert Harbins original book. One of my favourite illusions is the penetration of brooms with a person inside a barrel. As a youngster I used to help out a fellow magician back home by being the person in the barrel. He added to the illusion by putting a blade through the middle. It is a great illusion.
Mike Caveney has his routine 'The Substitution Barrel' in his book, MagicComedy. It is a sub trunk like idea with the barrel.
