On Dec. 28, 2009, Jimmy Sullivan died. He was the drummer for Avenged Sevenfold, and the music world was absolutely stunned.
Undoubtedly one of the best drummers from the last decade, The Rev had unparalleled creativity and skill. He was the anchor behind the band, and they just haven't been the same without him. For those of you who don't know who The Rev is, or have never listened to Avenged Sevenfold, check this out: Interview with M. Shadows http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0whC6mQ0uk Here is one of the songs he appears on (be warned, this is loud metal, and contains explicit language) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB47d-cw3xU And this is the final song that Jimmy wrote before he died, gave it as a Christmas present to his band members. Wow, did I really say "Three Years" in the topic post. I meant Four.

I'm not familiar with his work but I'm going to ask a presumptuous question. What did he overdose on?

The autopsy was inconclusive, but the toxicology report claimed that he overdosed on oxycodone, oxymorphone, diazepam, nordiazepam, and alcohol. I'm not sure what those substances exactly are, but that's what I found on Google. He also had an enlarged heart, which might have caused something. Rumor is that he basically committed suicide by drinking a Brompton Cocktail. Which, ironically, is the name of one of A7X's songs. Fans generally agree that "Fiction" was his suicide/farewell note to his friends, because he gave them that song only a week before he was found dead. Crazy stuff, but the stories only add to The Rev's legend. |
