I think everyone must have heard of Scam School on the internet.
Hosted by Brian Brushwood. For anyone interested in coin sleights, his new site has a very nice coin routine called the 3 Coin Trick. see it here ... http://www.scamstuff.com/collections/fro......redit001 Of course, the sleights are not new. But perhaps the routine is. I don't know, as I am not a coin performer. However, seeing this routine has really got my interest in coin magic. And at a price of $1.99 (download) it is definitely the best purchase anyone can make. I highly recommend it. Coin magic here I come. |

Didn't even change anything - with what appears to be an appropriation of the deep well move (not certain I have that name right) that Ron Bauer teaches in his Gadabout Coins Revisited. Yep, pretty much Gadabout Coins alright. Love Ron Bauer's version of the classic effect. Also Dan Watkin's Sticky Coins is pretty neat too, Both are better versions than this presentation here, IMHO.

Wulfiesmith (OP):
In my opinion, Brian Brushwood's sleight of hand on the 3Coin Trick is awkward, with exaggerated motions, and his false transfers are clumsy at best. I'd avoid this download. The trick can look beautiful and baffling, and it's taught well in Bobo. Ron Bauer has his own handling, as noted above. I wouldn't be surprised if David Roth teaches it somewhere, but I'm not sure. The best version I know is Mike Gallo's, which has a very magical kicker that brings the routine full circle. His method varies from the original, but you can easily adapt his presentation and structure to the traditional method. It is taught on the NY Coin Seminar #8 DVD. Cheers, Jerry |

Also, Rannie Raymundo has a variation that he calls "Madabout Coins" that I like a lot. Funny routine!

This is Bill Tarr's version of Gadabout Coins from Now You See It, Now You Don't. It's a great anytime/anywhere effect with a surprise ending. Even after 30 years of performing I still use this version all the time.

IMO we shouldn't even be mentioning Brushwood's name on here. This is the man that revealed the ID for free.
Now he's selling someone else's work, no doubt without permission. A lot of fuss recently over 'Red' yet no-one blasts BB??? |

While we're on the topic of Gadabout Coin.... How do keep the coins from talking like crazy on the 3 coin vanish at the end? Half dollars and my Chinese coins look great... sound great in the passes... but won't shut up when I need them to.

The above-mentioned Mike Gallo routine (NY Coin Seminar #8 DVD) solves the noise problem neatly by substituting two surprises at the end.
In my opinion, the usual ending in which you simply show an empty hand is a thudding anticlimax. In Mike Gallo's routine, the two surprises provide double knockout punch, similar to revealing the two big loads at the end of a chop cup routine. For me, it's a perfectly constructed coin routine and a pleasure to perform. Cheers, Jerry |
