I'm learning tenkai pennies by jay right now and I can do the routine, and other slights but my fault is that there is always just a slight glisten from the coin still. When I get the pinkey far enough back so that coin doesn't show its uncomfortable. Is that just something I have to get used to and overcome or is there something else I can do to make the pinch easier?

Getting your pinky from inline to rolled back around the third finger is VERY USEFUL in making the Tenkai concealment work properly, and later on ... for a certain move from deep backclip.

Alikzam,
I sometimes have the same problem, fingers not fat enough. I worried about it for a while, and then realised that it actually doesn't matter if your angles aren't to critical. You can't see the gleam from the non-pinky side of your hand nor from most angles towards your front if you are holding your hand palm up. Yes, you'll still see it, but check in the mirror if your audience will be able to. And just keep practicing. Eventually it stops feeling weird and you can leave a coin there for an extended period of time without cramping up. I practiced doing 50 of Jay's method each morning waiting for the train, and had my right hand working in a couple of days - left took longer. Incidentally, there is another way that seems easier than Jay's method, not quite as quick but much easier on the fingers, Scotty York apparently shows in one of his videos. PM me and I'll pass on the post from the person who told me about it. David. |

Jay uses Scotty York's idea all the time for Mr. Clean Coins Across, one of his signature routines. It is much easier and much more natural, deceptive, etc. IMO it also helps the pinch get in the right position.
