I purchased a large plastic bag of misc used gaffed coins. Many of them are unusable.
I know what most of them are for but not all. Do you know what this is used for? It is a Kennedy half (heads) on one side and a metal shiny blank disc on the other side. The thickness of the half and the disc are the same, so the total thickness is about twice that of a Kennedy half. Here is a photo. Thanks,

Is it a shiner?

Could be used to hide a coin in a similarly-colored Okito box. Is the gaff attracted to a magnet (or magnetic)?
I think Sankey once had a trick using blanks, but memory is REALLY foggy, there.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Yea, and Johnson had a routine where you started out with a silver cube, you changed it to a round ball, then flatten it out, and then changed it to a half dollar!

I've seen a J.G. Thompson set-up, but it was in brass, so the coloring is different.

Could be used with this:
Did you check to see if it is m******c? |

No, it is not magnetic.
There are a few of these in the bag. It would be nice to know if it is something I can use or junk drawer material. Thank you all. I looked at the links posted. It looks like it's only part of an effect.

Yep, it's the coin from Johnsons "The MINT". I use this in "Spellbound" and Mike Rubinstein's
"Twilight Coin" (version 1). Doug |

Johnson's cube to ball to disc seems to be a coin workers version of an effect called Gem Busters, Tannens used to carry years ago.

Thx for the idea.
I think I will use the gaff from the "one cup and coins" for a stand up/in the hands " M.I.N.T. routine" Given its 2 properties, it makes it a lot easier to load and provides for one "less" load. :o)

What daveroberts said. It looks like one of the props for a coin version of an old effect made out of plastic with gems on it. I can't remember that name of the plastic version. The plot is that you take a metal cube, "roll" the corners off of it, then flatten it into a disc, then turn it into a coin. I haven't seen on since the mid 80s.
