Rachel......I am so sorry and I commend you and your strength to honor his wish. I have been there and know the pain. You have had a remarkable life together and now you honor that love, by being there, and protecting him when he no longer can.

This is very sad news. My thoughts are with his family. Their loss is greater than ours although ours is great indeed. Aldo will be remembered long and fondly.

PLEASE be cautious about what you post! Rachel just posted the following on her Facebook page:
Rachel Colombini here! Please forgive my anger but whoever said "rest in peace" had better apologise. Aldo is MY husband and I will give status updates when ready. Aldo is still with us , he is in hospice now, with no life support and we are making sure he is pain free and comfortable. Thanks for the outpouring of love from you all, he was and still is a very special man who touched the world and people in lots of wonderful ways, it is devastating to see what the stroke has done to him and he would never have wanted to live this way. Please remember him with all the love & affection he earned & deserved. Luv Rachel Colombini

Aldo was a wonderful, gentle man with a great amount of knowledge and wisdom to share with the community. Talking with him was like sharing time with an old friend. My prayers are with Rachel as she deals with her loss. Godspeed, Aldo!

Please read my logic and request at the bottom of the post.
Oh most Holy trinity we ask you to lift up your servant Bishop RAFFAELLO DELLE NOCCHE. With humility and charity he guided so many souls in the way of your love. Through his intercession grant us the favor which we confidently ask for Aldo Columbini so that he may be raised to the altars of the church. May the people of God, inspired by his life and mission grow in faith hope and love. Amen. Quote:

I'm shocked. Aldo Columbini was one of the kindest, big-hearted magicians I've ever known. He was generous, creative, talented and always willing to share his knowledge.
A year or so ago, he refused to accept any payment for several gaffed cards I'd asked to purchase from him and which he immediately sent me. In exchange, he asked only that I buy him a glass of wine the next time I saw him. I was very much looking forward to doing exactly that if he'd be appearing at this summer's IBM/SAM convention. What a great human being. All of my condolences to his family. Mark Nemmers Sacramento, CA |

I saw and met Aldo at a lecture in Birmingham England at the British Magical Society in either 1999 or 2000. Don't remember any of the magic he did. All that stands out in my mind is what a nice guy he was.

I, like so many in our community, was the beneficiary of Aldo's warmth, kindness, generosity and knowledge. I will continue to honor him every time I perform one of his killer rope routines that has been in my toolbox for more than 20 years. I have thought of him often over the years and always held him in the highest regard. I am very sorry to learn of his passing and wish to extend my deep sympathy to Rachel and his family. I hope you find comfort in knowing how much we all shall miss him and how many fond memories he has left us with.

“Do not fear death so much, but rather the inadequate life". B.Brecht
And I'm sure that Aldo had quite a adequate life, embraced above all by the love of his courageous and devoted wife, Rachel who has always been a real and fearless fighter for life. I'm staring right now at his autographed photo he gave me a few years ago and I can hardly prevent my tears from dropping on my keyboard. I think that everyone has the right to feel just for a few moments like a child though he is a 47 years old family man and father of a teenager and let himself cry silently due to the loss of a brilliant thinker and creator of our art and one of the greatest fellow magic performers worldwide to date. But above all due the loss of a loved human being who had a rarefied and outstanding personality. A man with a heart full of gold... All of my condolences to his "Wild at Heart' wife, Rachel, their relatives and their closest and beloved friends. Andrew K. Athens, GREECE
