The real 'secret' of hypnosis is that the subconscious is designed to maintain it's status quo. once you discover what it has onboard just confirm those beliefs a couple of times then use suggestion to make your desired result fit those beliefs.

Interesting thought, thanks for sharing that. I was just about to head off to bed, so now I'll have something to think about tonight.
An elaborate reaction might follow tomorrow; there's probably lots to say pro and con All the best, Timon
"But overcome space, and all we have left is Here. Overcome time, and all we have left is Now. And in the middle of Here and Now, don't you think that we might see each other once or twice?"

The biggest problem is what is known as homeostasis the need for a system to maintain stability even if the change is very positive. If you want to maintain the "status quo" then that's ok. If you want to create a dramatic change and make it permanent then you need something more. Or they will just back slide then become better at staying where they are.

I disagree Mindpunisher.

Homeostasis is more than beliefs its the whole system. People are systems within systems. If someone wants to make a dramatic change they also meet resistance from those around them.
The subconscious ( 7 year old kid inside) is just a construct. It doesn't really exist (unless you install it). Sure there is a part of our mind that works out of our awareness sometimes referred to "the unconscious" which is a more up to date label but its attentive all the time and you don't need to elicit hypnotic phenomena to talk to it or silly rituals like finger signals- its listening all the time. You can talk directly to it. If you listen it will talk back. You don't need hypnotic phenomena similar to what you see on a stage at all unless you want to impress someone. It has to be the biggest myth in hypnosis to date but I guess it helps sell courses. that's THE REAL SECRET.. That most don't want to realize for whatever their reasons. Or maybe there is a genuine shortage of trainings that will teach that..But there is a reluctance to let go of "toys". |

Mind Punisher, that shows a complete misunderstanding of what is taught on real hypnosis courses mate.

Whats a real hypnosis course Johnathon? I prefer to use hypnosis in ways that get results out of the ordinary. Maybe what you "really" mean is what is taught in ordinary hypnosis courses. If you want extraordinary results then ordinary doesn't cut it. I think your subconscious is limited by its status quo.
youl be telling Im not a real man next because I wear underpants. the status quo is something to move beyond not conform to in my opinion. What you really mean is I've moved beyond what you teach and other courses do similarly. Not all courses teach that and not everyone is stuck in the past. trapped within their "status quo! its all illusion at the end of day anyway. |

I think you two are using different definitions. Are you talking about a trance? That's just a simple neurological state in which theta waves a predominate and the body is relaxed. Boom. Definition ended. Are you talking about changing someone's behavior by the use of trance phenomena? That's much more complicated. But I would challenge mindpunisher to furnish the citations for the research which proves the subconscious does not exist. Without empirical validation it's just some words you're saying.

The subconscious as we know it is a construct. A) its not really a 6 year old kid that needs to be talked to that way and b) you don't need long induction or finger signals to talk to "it". These are simple facts. The "unconscious" is a more general term for any thought process that's out of your awareness. It much cleaner than the older subconscious and isn't distorted by the projection of old and outdated concepts/constructs. Its is you its not apart from you. Its awake all the time listening giving you guidance because it IS YOU.
There are much better more powerful ways to change someones behaviour than dicking around with phenomena. That should be left on the stage. Biggest Myth in the industry but I guess it sells courses. |
