I saw these 2 new exclusive releases from Davenports Magic on their website. There's no trailer yet..
H2Oil By Daniel Young and Davenports Magic Here you have Daniel Young’s take on the classic Oil and Water plot. Ever thought that Oil & Water routines were a bit boring? Did you think they lacked some visual elements? This is a super visual multi-phased Oil & Water routine. Just imagine seeing the cards mixed and then separate in front of your eyes. This is the most visual Oil and Water routine to date, and, best of all, it’s easy to do! Virtually sleight free (well, one Ghost Count by Alex Elmsley). There’s no reset and no need for a table, it can be done in THEIR hands, which probably makes this the most workable and commercial Oil & Water to date as well. Includes gimmicked card and DVD. You would also require a red backed bicycle deck (not supplied). -------------------------------------------------------------------- Open Dreams by Daniel Young and Davenports Magic Have you ever experienced waking up one minute before your alarm goes off? Have you ever wanted to perform Paul Curry’s, now classic, Open Prediction effect? In Open Dreams, Daniel Young has combined the Open Prediction Effect with a meaningful presentation, that not only makes it extremely easy to perform, but also highly deceptive and with a double climax, that has never been seen in an effect of this kind. The cards are dealt face up from a shuffled deck, until they say stop. One card is dealt face down. Not only do you predict the card they would choose, but even the time they set their alarm to. You get the special pack, which can be examined and used before and after the effect. Also on this DVD you get detailed instructions of how to perform this effect in various situations and performing conditions, ranging from self-working to some sleight-of-hand required. Invluded is the gimmicked deck of Bicycle playing cards and DVD. Additional items required: Sharpie pen (either black or a red and black) and a small note pad. |

Daniel is a mate so I'm kind of biased but then we know each other well enough to be completely critical and open. He shared the dream effect idea with me some time ago and I've played with it myself and found it does play very well. I'm pleased to see the video clip and Daniel present it himself. Good work and good luck!

Anything with Daniel Youngs name on it is going to be brilliantly thought out, developed over a significant amount time and incredibly clever!
So glad he's finally brought some of his new ideas to the magic community! Jamie Daws

Quick disclaimer -- I am sure Daniel is 10x the magician I will ever hope to be, and people like Liam saying its great should have far more weight then my amateur opinion.
That said I was pretty underwhelmed by the OW video. First phase (if I caught it correctly) is a very old move for O+W and not executed terribly well. The next two were worse -- lots of unexplained fiddling around, undercutting cards for no reason other than clueing the spec that order is important and the third phase was not much of a kicker. For me a big meh. I like O+W routines but saw nothing interesting on the video. Of course always possible I just missed it entirely |
