Hello there!
Im trying to make a new act with a safari theme. Im just in a thinking phase and looking for good idea for the show. So here is some of my though: It is a 30 minuttes show located in the "jungle". I enter the stage a little stressed with my suit on. I tell them that we are going on a trip to the jungle, but we cant dress like this. I play some jungle sounds on the PA while I do a quickchange from suit to "safari/jungle outfit". a talk about what I will look after and on the trip I meet a lot of magical things like egg, flowers, animals and so on. What kind of effects would you use to a show like this? best regards Alexander |

"Jungle Hook" by Wayne Mattox would fit perfectly. It's a great take on PM, with kid interaction and some nice business. I highly recommend this, probably available from Practical Magic in the UK.

If you work with doves, or ice cream bars consider a "net" to catch them.

"Lion Tamer" from my Hardboard and Duct Tape Magic Book 1 on The Magic Nook.
Spellbinder's "ABC Stung Revisited" from The Wizards' Journal #21. Many card effects, like the Four Card Monte found in The Wizards' Journal #17, can be made with jungle animals - either cartoons or photos gathered from the Web collections of free clip-art.

Hello!
I 'm planning a show with the theme safari. It's like the jungle. In my story I get from the safari. And I tell the children that I have seen it all. My ideas : Chico the Mind Reader (Bill Abbott) Elephant in the Room or snake basket ( Frontier Magic ) Flito Flower ( it's a magic- Flower) Gangavase ( I always had fresh water ... ) And lastly, I show the children my travel diary (Magic -coloring -book ) . This book has been specially printed. On the left is the day history (First Day , I met a monkey ( Chico ) ......... on the right side is a coloring picture of me and chico . Every trick , which I have shown is in the coloring book as a coloring picture. I show the normal routine and tell the children that they get a coloring book as a gift after the show. This is of course a normal coloring book , but with my stories and images ( specially made ) . So the children get a nice coloring book with my address and information about me.The children will tell their parents about the great stories and the great magician . This coloring book is used for long. Greetings from Germany Frank |

Ostrich egg juggling.
Nigel agrees on the puppets. Are you going to wear a complete costume , themed hat or drums? ....and can you do the Tarzan/Carol. Burnett bit?

Thanks Alexander. The vine joke was a bit of an afterthought there was a genuine suggestion there too! Just order green rope and say it's a vine.
For professors nightmare you could tell a story about how hard it is to swing from vine to vine as they are all different lengths! Talking of vine swinging, the monkey bar would fit this premise too! I love Frank's idea with the jungle diary that writes itself. Very clever. George |

The travel diary idea would also work as a "Magic Story Book" (see Qua-Fiki's "Magic Story Book" section at The Magic Nook) in which a new page with a picture and story appears in the book as kids choose cards "at random" to determine what comes next. For example- the book is blank to begin with. Someone from the audience chooses a picture card and it (for example) is a picture of a monkey. Now the book is opened again and a single page has appeared with a photo of your monkey puppet and a little story about what is about to happen. You make your monkey puppet appear and do your magic routine with it. Then have another card chosen , which makes a new page appear in the diary and leads into the next trick... and so on.

You could also do "will the cards match" using jungle animals as pictures.
