I am looking for a copy of Frank Garcia's Encyclopedia of Sponge Ball Magic. Has anyone seen one for sale recently, and what are they going for these days?

Andy Greget usually has a copy. It is out of print, I think it is at least $80, maybe more.

You have a Private Message concerning his very book. Bill, thanks for defining a baseline price. |

Bill: That is about what I sold my duplicate copy for about five years ago... Of course the copy I sold was in absolute mint condition...

Years ago I went through a really trying time in NYC and had to sell a lot of my belongings. To my deep regret, these included the Garcia Sponge Ball book, plus major works by Slydini, Vernon, Ganson, Paul Harris and many more. I took these, plus many smaller softcover books, to Tannen's Magic Shop. Everything was in mint condition. But Tony Spina knew a desperate guy when he saw one. He paid me $2 each for the softcover books, and $5 for each hardcover.

I am in the process of clearing an Estate out of Magic and I do have this book on The Encyclopedia of Sponge Ball Magic by Frank Garcia first edition 1976. This is a hard cover book and in excellent condition. I noticed on Amazon it is going for $295.00 does that sound correct? I would like to sell it but I want to be fair on price.
Thank You, Bill |

The last few I saw on ebay didn't sell for close to that price.

The book is legendary. But how good is it? Does it contain anything that can't be found elsewhere?

I've seen a few copies of the sponge ball book for sale ranging from £10 to £150 in the past. Sometimes you fall lucky... I've only seen a couple of the 3 ball routine books though (one of which I bought.)

One sold on eBay in May for $250. There's one for sale there now with a starting price of $290 with 2 days to go and no bidders so far.

Sometimes prices on auction sites are intended to skew market perception. I would not rely on auction sites as a price discovery mechanism.

Tim Cavendish had a copy for sale unless it's gone. I think he only wanted $115.
