I am planning to order a one way deck. Actually, probably two...one for forcing and one as a stock for torn or signed cards.
In my usual manner, I started to over think the whole process. What number/suit should I order? Maybe I will match it to my Svengali, but I don't really use it that much. Do aces and faces look too obvious or flashy (especially the ace of spades)? Should I stick with a pip card with high amounts of white space for signing or a lot of pips to show on a torn card? See what I mean about over thinking?? I am not asking anyone to make this decision for me, but instead I am asking how you chose "your number". Was it purposeful? was it just whatever was on the shelf? do you find yourself attached to a certain force number (and it influences purchasing in the future) or do you just switch it up? Hope this isn't too odd...I didn't find any similar discussions in the last 5 years. Joe |

Hi, I use the 4 of Diamonds. No particular reason other than the large blank space
available for signing etc. |

I usually try to avoid "obvious" cards like aces. But it also depends on how you plan to use it and what other tricks you may be doing before or after.
If you think you may need it to hide anything like sticky stuff or ET, then a court card may be better. If you often like to do a trick using a certain 4 of a kind, then avoid that value unless you can use it to segue into that routine, then you may want to get one that matches. So a lot depends on how you think you may use it. For instance I used to do a card sword routine and for a time I preferred to use either a 2 or a 4 because they don't have center pips I didn't like the sword penetrating any of the pips. Plus, it's easier IMO to see 2 or 4 spots from a distance. I used to over think it too, but then I realized that they are not that expensive and there are certainly advantages to having more than one. So if you change your mind in a couple months, just get another one. Also, don't forget the back color. You may want to get a red and blue anyway if you use various decks. |

A similar question was asked a couple of months ago and can be found here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=41

@poof-daddy no, unfortunately it's not. It was a non-performance discussion of the deliberate choice of the 3C because of photogenicity and psychology. They broke down the differences between the court and pip cards, the suits, the colours, and high and low cards, and ended up with the three of clubs as their perfect force. Of course being Penn & Teller it was likely a load of guff they were spouting, but it was interesting nonetheless.
