Is this good to keep gimmicks, or does it change their colors?

Just my opinion... but when I received mine leather version I was disappointed because it seemed to be a sort of PU Leather and not like real leather and then thnking about it and this very situation that you bring up, I decided that is a good thing because the tanning process for some leathers is what causes them to tarnish some coins. Vegetable tanned leathers are the least likely to have this reaction but chemical tanning will just about do it everytime. Something similar occurs with bluing on handguns used with chemical tanned leather as well... the bluing will wear off the handguns faster. The down side to Vegetable tanned leather is that it tends to be stiffer initially. By the way, none of my coins have "changed colors" yet and I've had it for over a year now. Hope this helps....

The tanning chemicals don't seem to affect my clad gaffs, but I have had some discoloration with silver. I don't think I would trust copper or brass in a Kuppers Keeper.

I have a green coloured one. It dyed my Loonies and Canadian pennies after a while. I stopped using it.

Thanks for the responses...I won't be ordering one. I wish there was something I could keep them in though.

There shouldn't be anything in them to cause a reaction with coins. If you are worried about coins sliding out of the compartments you can make little flaps from felt or Tyvek that fip over and into the slots that will keep the coins from slipping out of the slots. Below are 2 links that show almost the same case from both eBay and Target. Hope this helps..... http://www.ebay.com/itm/TARGUS-TGC-MWC10......d253b5ea http://www.target.com/p/zippered-black-s......13724291 |

This one is a pretty good alternative that is specially lined so as not to discolor a silver coin:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......&forum=3 There are some advantages to it as well that you can read in the posts on that thread. For a smaller number of coins, I really like Mark Mason's new snap purse (it's not on his website, but he will sell them if you ask for a very reasonable price IMO). It is lined and has never discolored a real silver gaff of mine. |

I just cannot fathom why anyone would make an unlined coin purse (with the usual tannins) for magicians. It is ludicrous. The JOL coin wallets are lined. Nothing tricksy about them, they are to keep your coins in.

Hey guys, I am thinking about getting a Kueppers Keeper and I see that there is a leather or vinyl option. I hear that the leather ones leave stains, but does anyone have the vinyl one and does it stain anything? Thanks!

I have one of Kuepper's Leather wallets and it hasn't affected my Silver or Copper coins but,my Johnson Kennedy/China Half and Hong Kong coins were stained. Not sure if it is the wallet or material Johnson used for the coins.

I have been using a Case Logic USB Flash Drive Case, Black. It works well and is inexpensive. Here is a link to view it. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Case-Logic-USB....../5347359
