I no longer see these on Propdog. Are they still making / selling them?
I don't recall the price that it was listed at over there, but there are 2 sized cups and Vanishing Inc advertised the larger cup. I'm really hoping they'll perfect the sugar cubes soon. I was waiting to get a set (cup and cubes) since shipping is free if you buy enough. |

80 for this . Worth it if I will use it often .

I bought the mini Starbucks chop cup when it first came out from Prodog. It really is a quality prop and I was waiting for the release of the chopped sugar cubes which had been under development.
I'm also surprised that the rights have been given apparently to Vanishing Inc together with quite a considerable price hike! Still hoping that one day those sugar cubes will materialise! |

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the positive comments regarding my Starbucks Cups. We haven't sold the rights to Vanishing Inc, they just have a few left and once they have sold out, that's it. Basically, we have run into a little trouble with Starbucks about these because it contains a magnet and because we recommend not using them for coffee! We were told they didn't want us selling these commercially anymore. As far as we were concerned, because we purchase them direct from Starbucks and we are not copying anything, we should be able to do what we like with them and then sell them on. Like buying a car, pimping it out and selling it on, it's a long story and my lawyers pretty much said "it's Starbucks, it doesn't matter if you are right or wrong, you won't win". So if anyone is interested in them, they will have to contact me direct at info@propdog.co.uk and I will custom make them as required, but to honour Starbucks wishes, they will no longer be available commercially though the website. We are almost there with the Sugar Cubes, it is very simple to make a basic chopped white sugar cube, but a white cube on a white cup did not look good, so the first obstacle was to make one brown and look like a real brown sugar lump, this was ridiculously harder than you would imagine as the cube has to look 'cyrstalline' to look real. We eventually solved this problem after months of making hundreds of prototypes, but once we solved this, the next problem was the noise it makes. The cubes are solid and as the magnet realised the cube on the down motion of the cup, the cube would hit the side of the cup and make a 'chink' giving away the game. Now, after about 300 attempts, we think we are just about there. We are using a soft clear type of polyurethane rubber now that works perfectly, we are just trying to get the colour right. It turns out that chemically dying sand was the answer! So once we've got the final cubes done and we are happy they look just as good as a real cube, and after some extensive testing, we should be good to go. Dave Bonsall PropDog Ltd www.propdog.co.uk |

Thanks for the update, Dave. I know that I am not the only one who really appreciates the effort you have put into this project. Really looking forward to the cubes!

The cup is fabulous-- I can't see any evidence of the gaffing.
I hope the sugar cubes are going to be available soon-- I'll defintiely order a set. I'll use a spoon for the wand. I just ordered a starbucks coaster to use for the mat. I found a leather one on ebay, so it's not very distracting. I came across some starbucks branded coasters out there that that seem to be made from something like neoprene, but they look too bright to me. Next is to work on a final load. I'm not sure how, but I'd like to end with a load of loose coffee beans. I've heard of people using rice as a final load, but I'm not sure where to find that. Frank |

Rmendez, full-sized Starbucks chop cups were never available at Propdog. You can however, buy the one that is bigger than the little espresso cup.
It's called the coffee cup. |
