A handful still don’t “get” that this is an Open Forum, meaning anybody on Google can see it. (Been guilty of this myself!) Without getting into the whole “This is the Internet – Everybody can find anything” debate, WE users of the Magic Café have a place where WE can discuss OUR “secrets” with at least a bit more privacy.
When an inappropriate subject comes up, adding comments just keeps that particular thread bumping back to the top. Don’t do it! There is a “Report This Post” link at the top of every post. Please use it. I don’t know precisely what the report threshold is for having a thread moved to Inner Thoughts or removed entirely, but I have reported posts and seen them handled quickly by the Admins. My thought is that the more “reports” made, the greater attention it will receive. Of course the final decision is up to the Admins, but we need to at least be making them aware! Thank you. My name is Donatelli and I approve this message. :)
...what if I could read your mind?

There seems to be an influx of method seeking and hand tipping in the public portion of the forum. Thanks for writing this. Hopefully it encourages the self-policing we need to keep the secret secret.

I can only agree. There seems to be an influx of new posters lately, all just fishing for methods.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

I agree. In fact, if the exposure and method fishing continues I will likely not be participating here much longer.
It is starting to get a bit pathetic. |

What I don't get is why guys are giving those that ask these types of questions direct answers often by specific trade names here, rather than properly advising them how to study and find this information by themselves thru their own efforts and proper resources. This handing it to anyone on a silver platter just for the asking is getting ridiculous.

This may not be a popular opinion but I would like to see more stringent requirements than merely 50 posts to get in to inner thoughts. I realise that the forum software limits those requirements but I would like to see inner thoughts and the other basement topics require a user to request entry and be granted permission to enter by some form of committee of 'qualified' members. Yes I realise that such requirements may disqualify my own entry but there are enough sources of study for any willing participant to learn their way in.

I agree, but don't think it is feasible here.
But that's why there are several private forums out there, including my own workshop, where membership is vetted and anonymity is not permitted. Good thoughts, Bob |

My copy of your Artful Mentalism vol 2 should be arriving tomorrow. Hopefully continued study of such volumes will one day earn me entry to forums such as yours and membership of psycrets and the pea.
