I think it's a good assumption if it says "videos" that you can expect a video. But that's my guess.

Also eryanic, if you ever have a question which you may not be getting an email reply back, simply call the shop and talk to Jason yourself. I'm sure will answer any question you have.

Helo Evan, if I'm living in US, I'll definitely do that! but I'm in Asia, so it'll be super expensive to make one..anyway, they FINALLY replied me, but they did not tell me whether it's VHS or DVD..they just said that the item is no longer available...duhh...

The exact same thing happened to me. But you're lucky they replied you. For the past few times, I did not even recieve a reply. |

Second, when we run a sale as big as this YOU are not the ONLY person that we receive emails from. Magic_Streak, we have been through this before on another topic. ALL emails all answered as quickly as possible. I answer the emails and Paul does as well. I, myself, have answered YOUR emails! If eryanic would have taken the time to read the letter that was sent to him he would of noticed that it clearly states that these are VHS TAPES. I'm done with this posting on this topic. If you have any questions please call Hocus Pocus Magic. Ask to speak with Paul or myself.

Hi all,
got to jump in here. Magic_Streak, I'm too from Singapore, and I do not have any problem with HP. Recently, I ordered something from them and although there were some problems intitially, they were very polite and efficient in handling my problems. And the sale which they held recently saved me a lot of hard-earned cash. Once again, thank you Hocus-pocus. yujie

Being a loyal Hocus Pocus customer I can only say I have recieved nothing less than top notch service. When they run these sales people jump! They get swamped with both e-mails and calls. Once, I tried to order something off of their list less than a minute after the e-mail came, only to find it sold (They were Cellini Cups for less than $150!)

I've always gotten outstanding service from them, and I don't like in the US. Anyway, how can they tell where you live, and what would they care? That information is only relevant for their shipping department.
Perhaps you should reconsider your method of communication, as email isn't the same thing as picking up a phone to call them, toll-free or otherwise. Although I've never had any delayed responses by email, even if I did, it would certainly be understandable given the sheer number of customers they must deal with. They've been commended numerous, numerous times on their amazing customer service by people around here. If you look elsewhere for service, you will likely be disappointed. Brian |

I'm sure hocus-pocus is a great magic dealer from the great reviews they received...all I'm saying is that I wasn't sure whether it was videos or DVDs and they did not answer that Q in my email...but I'm sure they're still a good magic dealer..
Magic Streak...haha..well, if you live outside the US (like me), the main disadvantage is we don't get free shipping, and the cost of shipping, especially books are really expensive! but that can't be avoided...sighh |

I don't mean to bad mouth HP in any way and I understand they recieve many emails a day. I myself have had a taste of their excellent service during my almost two years in dealing with them.
However there is one problem I've yet to get it solved. It has been discussed in another thread and it is about the shipping costs HP charges. I've written to them personally about this before but have yet to recieve anything concrete except HP doesn't gain from shipping charges. For now, HP charges FedEx rates on all purchases but it is billed directly to your credit card. The customer has no idea how much it costs. By the time we send an email asking the shipping rates and recieved a reply, due to the lightning quick service of Hocus Pocus the package is already halfway across the Pacific on a FedEx airline. I have requested many times, and on another thread many others have also requested that we should be quoted on the shipping rates before we close the deal. Jason what comments do you have on this please? THanks for your precious time! |

I would expect to be given a rate for any additional expense before clicking "send" when making a purchase on "anything". When in business you get feel for how much a shipping cost is for various products one might carry. I would suggest this to be explored by the merchant.
For instance, a small book or item might vary by like 75 cents. Therefore the price for shipping items like this should be given a rate somewhere in the middle, Chances are you may be a little shy in actual shipping on one, but be a little off on the high side on another which tends to balance out over mulitiple purchasing and volume going out. I would definately not purchase from any company until I was given a shipping/handling charge. Secondly I surely would not "tip-toe" with my request for such information. Should a merchant become agitated and/or sarcastic and/or evasive, then I would look elsewhere. The merchant is also expected to give quality customer service. I will make clear that my post is not directed to any merchant in particular. I am simply giving my 2 cents worth on a topic regarding shipping and handling charges along with familiarality with good business practices. If one takes offense to my thoughts is no matter to me. I stand by what I write. Cheers |

Playing Devil's Advocate...Aren't most charges shipping and HANDLING? We as consumers pay to have Jason get up and manhandle our orders (kidding Jason, really!)
According to Hocus-Pocus website the charges are based on weight, and have a $5 minimum. If it was based on a dollar amount, I can see being advised of the shipping total beforehand, but since each order various, I am perfectly content in accepting their terms. Guess, I'll slowly back away now...
