The words "patter" and "trick" should be eliminated from magicians vocabulary.

Thank you Dick. God, I can read this stuff for hours. The seedy side of magic, carnivals, sideshows and the like are so ripe for storytelling. Heck, what you just described in a couple of paragraphs could spawn several screenplays. The train car alone, traveling from town to town is genius.
And don't even get me started about having coffee with Al Flosso. That's another movie waiting to be made..."My Coffee with The Coney Island Fakir." Magic gold my friend.

Reading - It's something you do to learn about magic out of a book.

And writing - it's something you do to get a message across. Care to make your message more clear?

My comment to Dick Oslund was a friendly compliment to a fellow Café member who happens to contribute a lot of interesting and I feel, well-informed posts. I learned some things, and would like to read more...from him...on the Café. Why does this deserve a sarcastic and I feel patronizing comment? Strange.

My comment had nothing to do with yours. You'll notice I didn't mention your name nor did I quote you.
It was a response to the topic. Too many people now ignor books and other printed material, and miss out on wealth of information, because they think DVDs are the only place to learn from.

Fair enough motown. My apologies. (Dang, I was looking forward to a long protracted Café argument that would totally go off track from the original post )
Since I mentioned "read" in my post, and you mentioned "reading," I took it as a direct reply to me. If you drink, I owe you a beer.
